Total newbie here to notebooks/laptops. Just got a laptop with Intel PRO/Wireless 2011B LAN PC card which purports to give my laptop capability to hookup to hotspots while roaming. Questions:
1. Is this card OK for wireless operation in a laptop?
2. Does it work 802.11b as well as 802.11g modes?

Its a pretty old card but it should do its jobs depending on your laptop
and i things its only 802.11b because it only has a max data rate of 11 Mbps

Does the fact that this card only works 802.11b mode have adverse significant impact on my wireless capability? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is whether or not I should get one which works both modes?

It just means you will be only able to connect to wireless b networks which are slowly being changed over to wireless g networks and wireless n networks in the future. -
OK. I'm going to get a newer card. Thanks for this info.
