so im planning on getting a linksys Rangemax wireless-g router with MIMO. i hear good things about them. I'm using this primarily for extended range and some gaming on my laptop.
now, if i just want to get better range out of a mimo router compared to a regular g router, do i still need the mimo card on my laptop or desktops? does the router still have 10X range since its outputting that signal from its antennas? its only a concern when i want speed correct and thas wen i need a mimo card?
thanks

you might look to look at this review by CNet

Belkin might be a better bet -

I would not even consider BELKIN, not reliable hardware. I do not like MIMO, and yes you must use a compatiable card for it to work. Can not mix and match mfg.

Isn't RangeMax a Netgear trademark?

oops my bad .. yeh i meant netgear.. i went ahead and bought it actually on black friday it was 49 bucks.
someone actually told me some not so good things about it. supposedly theres no memory, its not good for p2p, and you lose packets with this one. i dont know if memory is that much of an issue. what can you guys tell me about this.
also if you guys know any websites or forums that talk about networking id like to read up on some stuff about it. -
I highly recommend dslreports.com
Networking and wireless forums are both there, along with security forums. Good resource.
I'm using the Netgear WPN824 RangeMax router, by the way, and I like it quite a lot and have had zero problems with it.
question about MIMO routers
