hey
I got a dell xps 1530 and a acer desktop upstairs.
I got security (mcafee) on my desktop with a netgear wireless cable router.
Do I also need security for my laptop or is the router my security.
If yes what type of security, full or partial ect..
Thanks.

Yeah, you still need to take care of your laptop. Most routers help, but are not the end all be all. Keep up to date with you virus and spyware scans, and you should be good

I highly recommend Spybot Search and Destroy and AVG Antivirus. Both are great free programs that should keep your laptop very secure.
Hope this helps!

Will got for the AVG free one and hope all goes well with that.

Ok... give it a try.
AVG Free is what I use (like I said before) and have had nothing but great experiences.
Good luck with your security! Hope it all turns out well.

If you are talking about viruses, I really prefer the AVG (like other people who mentioned). Other then that, I would use firefox and install plug-ins such as ABP Plus that would block out any nasty ads.

wireless router security isnt foolproof but its firewall is usually good, im using linksys
anyway dont forget to put a password on your router so people cant surf on it and steal your bandwidth -
You do have security (encryption and filtering) set up on the router, correct?
-
McAfee is not security, it's an antivirus.
If you are planning to connect wirelessly, the answer is yes, you do need security so your prevent people misusing your data as they intercept your signal on the air. You don't need any special driver, routers and laptop come already setup to work with security algorithm that encrypt your wireless communication, WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.
security for a wireless laptop?
