web banking or mobile banking ,which one is safer?

A friend of mine who works in the IT field suggests to me that he never uses mobile banking (i.e. bank mobile apps) and he always only used web version (i.e. logging in only with PC computer or Apple Mac)
He said it's safer to use only web version. Is he true?

 

In general that is true partly because the quality od mobile apps is surprisingly shoddy, but mostly because your computer is always up to date if you have Windows Update on (for most users that is) whereas for a mobile phone - especially an Android based one - updates are rather rare.
Assuming you have an Android phone - check what is the date for your last security patch. Anything between then and now is a fair game - known vulnerabilities that your phone has not been secured against.

 

Would it be much safer if I use iOS (iPhone) to handle banking things ??

And Anything I can do to enhance the security of mobile banking??

 

You can't do a thing to improve the quality of a mobile app unfortunately.
iOS is considered more secure than Android - if for no other reason, than because you almost always have the most recent version but I'm not an expert on iOS. What makes Android less secure also makes it great in for me - that is that you can do whatever you want with it.

 

Apple tends to keep their devices up to date for longer, but eventually, older models won't get the latest updates either. Therefore, the same security issues will also apply eventually.

 

You could a Linux distro like Ubuntu or Mint with some disk space used for persistence to store all your apps on your usb drive. So whenever you want to make a secure transaction boot off the flash drive that stores everything on RAM and is discarded when its powered off.
PC or Macs are much safer than using mobile phones/ipads in general.

 

In recent times, I mainly use mobile banking as often as the online banking via the web browser, if not more. Of course, there is always room for improvements, and creating means to refined stability with how fast pace the mobile, and tech scene is evolving overtime.

We came a long way when it comes to mobile technology, especially compare to 12 years ago when the mobile scene was pretty limited to mainly PDA, Blackberries, bars and flip phones The possibilities of Smartphone capability were starting to pick up ground, and began laying the framework for the mainstream that we see today.
