hi, just wondering which one would be more secure?
wep encryption or wpa encryption?
-
wpa > wep

WPA is the latest word in encryption technology.
WEP is not very secure. -
i might have to upgrade my router then lol
currently im using a netgear mr814v2 -
I just use the WPA so I can pick my own password that is easier to remember.
-
you can still use wep and use MAC address access table to list the systems allowed onto your wireless network.
-
WPA is more secure and you are able to choose a 'passphrase' which is more like a password than a key.
for example:
with WEP you would have a key like this: 09876543210987654321fedcba
while with WPA you would have someting more like this: WpAEncrYption
Read this as well! -
imho absence of WPA alone is not a reason to throw out a working router.
-
i wouldnt throw it out
i'd sell it on ebay and put the money towards the new router
im looking at either a linksys or netgear
-
Just wondering, is WPA case sensative?

Yes. Imagine how many combinations would be eliminated if phrases were case-insensitive!
