Sometimes my wireless just freezes out of nowhere, i try right clicking on the lil icon at the bottom but nothing happens, I use wireless zero and I read it could be causing the problem so i disabled the service, but i still get it! help!

The Wireless Zero Configuration service automatically configures 802.11 adapters; if you want wireless, you will need to enable this service.
Could you clarify "my wireless freezes"? Does the computer itself become unresponsive, or does the Internet simply not work?
I would suggest finding updated drivers for your wireless card. Doing a Windows Update may find some. Do a Custom Scan (Start > Programs > Windows Update). -
well not really, once your connected wzc doesnt do anything. but yeah i should be more clear. what i meant was, it disconnects from the internet, the light on my laptop turns off, and when I try to click the little LAN icon for wireless at the bottom it doesnt do anything (no menu). I go into network connections and I enable the "wireless network connection".. then it says Enabling... Failed!
I'm always forced to restart my computer. (ill do the windows update even though I have automatic updates turned on) -

How far are you from your router when this happens?
You'll need to do the Custom scan if you want to find other updates - the automatic updates only do the updates deemed by Microsoft as "Critical."
If you have an Intel wireless card, simply go straight to Intel's website, they have updated drivers available there.
Let us know if the driver update does anything. What laptop do you have by the way? You might want to put it in your signature. -

Since you said notebook, you will need to check you energy saving settings. Including the one under advanced driver properties. There are setting that put the wireless to sleep to save power.

Yeah I looked up a few updates none of the descriptions had anything to do with wireless.
I'm about 8 metres through walls (made of... I actually don't know)... I guess it could be because my wireless connectivity is Low (it's weird because sometimes it goes up to excellent).
Nothing helpful in my energy savings, they are all about stand by/hibernation and stuff... Nothing wireless...
Here are my specs (I'm not proud of it):
Centrino duo 1.8ghz
60gb hdd
1gb ram
intel wireless 802.11a/b/g
intel 945gm -

I'm thinking you are going too far through walls to get a reliable connection. If you move closer, does the same problem occur?

May want to upgrade the antenna on the base it it doesn't have the 5dbi or greater.
My nb came with a Raylink 2500 bg card. It has problems 10 ft line of sight from my ap. Will not connect at 54, most of the time 36. And drops connections all the time. Which is why I use a USR 5410 PCMCI card. Can now cover my whole house with the AP on low power. -
help!!! im having the same EXACT problem as jedi007 described. It automaticaly disables, right clicking on the tray icon is unresponsive, and when trying to enable by going to Network Connections > right click enable, it says "failed!"
can anybody shed light on this, my wireless used to work fine, this problem seems to happen randomly.
my specs :
intel pro wireless 802.11a/b/g
2 ghz dual 2 core
2 gb ram
120 hdd -
I have the same problem too. Only restarting the computer helps. During the shutdown I get a message: Windows can't stop something called "Connections Tray".
Configuration:
Lenovo T60P
Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG with the latest driver (version: 11.5.0.32, date: 2007.09.26.)
Windows XP SP2
I'm 2 meters away from the router, and the signal strength is excellent.
I often set the computer standby instead of switching it off, but I'm not sure if it's related somehow to the freezing. The network goes away randomly, while I'm using it. -
could you please specify where can I find this settings?
-
On the system tray you have an icon with a battery, there you have some power saving strategies. But to put the wireless adpater to sleep to save power is on the wireless adapter setup. Just right click on my computer and look for device manager and then look for the wireless adapter and then check the power management tab.
