Awesome, I'm glad it went back up to $200. You don't have to make the purchase at Sony.com to qualify so this with eBay's cashback program is great.

Do they pay out on the first month statement or is it delayed?

    edit never mind.

What the heck? So you buy something for 350. 30 days later your statement comes saying you owe 350. 1-2 months there after you have a 200 credit on your account you can use. So you really arent using it on your initial purchase unless you only pay the minimum balance and hold the balance over while incurring credit fees. What a rip off.

I agree. I also think its bad news that you have to get a credit card from them to do this. For most people, not having the credit card would easily have saved them even more money than this in the first place (over time).

If they're smart they get the PS3, pay down the card immediately and cut it in half.

But you cant do that. You wont get the 200 back for 2-3 months after purchase. That means 1. you have to hold a balance and pay interest rates while waiting for the 200 to get credited towards your account, or 2. you have to use that 200 on something else.

Its ok deal. The problem for me is what will you do with those $200? I mean as nizzy1115 said you can't use them until later on. I don't know how sony credit card works if you can use it in other retail stores like maybe sears, walmart, kmart etc its an ok deal. But if your forced to buy it on sony I mean i would get the ps3 there is nothing else i would buy since sony is always expensive. Unless you do buy products from them or it works in other stores than its a good deal. PS: its a catch to get more buyers for there sales :p

OK, but what is wrong with option #1? :)

What is the interest rate in the states these days?

    Up here it's 19% annual..

In the past you had 0% interest for 12 months(excellent credit of course). There's something wrong with the website right now and I can't check.

@Gpister, the Sony card is like any other credit card. It can be used anywhere Visa is accepted(that's pretty much everywhere if I'm mistaken).

@CalebSchmerge, are you blaming credit card companies for trying to make money? If people don't know when to limit themselves it's their own fault. I think getting $200 off a $350 purchase is great.

Edit: There is a indeed a 0% interest intro period: https://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?card=C7MZ&page_type=appterms

Not such a bad deal afterall huh?

I wouldn't doubt if this card had a 29.97% interest rate.

#1. Credit cards don't cost people money. People who carry balances cost people money.

#2. If you can honestly say that you won't be able to spend $200 ANYWHERE after you get the credit on your statement, then this deal is not for you. I honestly don't think that's the case for most people. Heck , just spend it on groceries. You end up with the same net savings.

#3. This is a good deal, don't bash it because you have bad credit. Score for the responsible people.

"Sponsi" Well being that way its not bad as long as you can control yourself.
I mean I believe credit cards are more evil than good. Problem with people how they think is they spend what they can't afford yet it should be saving up and use the credit cars as a back up. Credit cards usually are to eat you but if your smart and spend wisely shouldn't be a problem. Best thing is to use it when needed and if you do use it pay it all or the most you can that 19% or even higher totally makes you dig a hole.

LoL nizzy, You're a funny one.

And yeah, don't you hate these "new card only" deals?
I mean, I can't even get a duffel bag from my bank when all a new customer needs to do is deposit .01% of my total balance to get it. That's garbage in my opinion.

Can someone tell me the expiration date for this? I was thinking it at work and I think I will apply for it not sure yet just because they are giving money when you purchase something.

    edit another question:
Question for example if i open the account lets say and buy a ps3 from amazon from a third party seller and buy something else to sum it up more than $349 will i still be able to get the $200 dollars back?

look at slickdeals forum about this. they went into detail about it. You will get something like 100 back from another site, and 300 back if you spend i think 3500 or something crazy like that.

    WARNING:

The Vaio AR i bought from sony style, sony didn't live up to there promise. im sorry to say that but its the truth, listen to this when i bought my Vaio AR when i applied for there card they promised that i would get $100 back 10% off and 5,000 reward points....guess what they gave me? Not a Darn thing, it ticked me off and i started regretting buying the AR i only payed $1100 for it though and that was like a year ago so i still got a good deal but still. Sony didn't put up there end of the deal just a heads up.

    Applied.
    Approved.
Purchased something I was planning on buying anyway. Used the account number and CVV2 to make the purchase at non-Sony site. It appears to have gone thru OK. Will wait and see how this works out since the terms state that the online account number can only be used at SonyStyle. I figured that the online info. would be linked to a single purchase of up to the approved credit limit and would NOT be linked to SonyStyle and I appear to have been correct. Again, time will tell the tale.
For those who are concerned that purchases made outside of SonyStyle will not qualify, well, the terms are very clear and they don't limit purchases to SonyStyle.
Should Chase not follow the stated terms of the offer, a friendly written reminder, followed by complaint to state attorney general should resolve the matter in my favor.
If it does not, (and it always has before in similar situations) then nothing ventured, nothing gained.

So im just saying be careful and make sure you document EVERYTHING just a heads up :D

Ober, yeah make sure you follow up with chase those sneaky....(fill in the blank)

I took advantage of this offer.
    Was immediately approved upon application.
I used the temporary authorization to buy something from Amazon instead of from Sony or Sony Style.

R'cvd the card and checked my balance online today, within 12 days of when I made the initial purchase the $200 credit is ALREADY on my account.
Have not even r'cvd the first statement yet.

    Nice, very nice!

This is obviously a good deal. I don't see why ppl are questioning it. You dont have to pay interest. Just pay your bill in full and some time in the future you get a credit back. Just like another person said, you can use the credit to buy something you are going to buy anyway like food or gas.

On the other hand, if you are broke and only have $200 in your pocket and planned to buy a ps3 with your last $200, you have other issues beyond not being able to use this deal. :D
