Nice laptop, certainly better deal than Intel's Ultrabooks. Do you know if the 4GB memory soldered?

Yes 1366x768 res, and glossy finish. Probably narrow viewing angles with average/poor color qualities, standard affair stuff. No touch input, but trackpad is "designed" for Windows 8 gestures.

    ---------

The stock 4GB of RAM is soldered to the board. "Max supported is 8GB but I'm sure if you put an 8GB module you can max it out to 12GB.

What's odd is the Chinese Lenovo site says the stock RAM is 2GB but I have a feeling that for some markets they're using 4GB. RAM is inexpensive, that's the minimum id expect.

This is a good alternative to the common Ultrabook. Its got Lenovo's great AcuType keyboard, its 21mm thin, and weighs 4 lbs while offering great graphic performance. The display is similar to a lot other Ultrabooks, as are the I/O ports and battery life. Some might think its too big or heavy but its still a very slim and light 14.0" laptop. Compared to the other laptops using the A8-4555M, its the least expensive.

I'm still considering the Samsung Series 5 with A10. It's $650 on Amazon still, just hoping it drops to $600 or less, and wish it had a backlit keyboard. But guess you can't have everything.

I do, working a write up. Taking me longer than I expected. Made a few notes starting here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...amd-trinity-notebook-list-51.html#post8933590

Sorry, it's kind broken up through that thread. I'll do a full write-up soon.

Just a few quick notes of significance:

    - Only contains single DDR3 slot with a single 4GB RAM chip. This means 25-30% degraded GPU performance
    - Warranty void if you open up the laptop to upgrade HDD or RAM
    - Battery life is only about 4 hours
    - Screen is average quality
    - Windows 8 is quick on it even with HDD though

My suggestion: You can find a better laptop for $500. 14" is ok, but it's really not much smaller than a 15"
