Not such a hot deal for an i5 notebook when you consider that OfficeMax was selling a Portege R835 for just $479, or that Staples had an HP DM4 for $399.

Not much of a deal at all?

If you can find those deals, those are hard to find and go fast. But for daily deal, this is pretty decent. I got a 256GB SSD for $200, but that doesn't mean the same SSD for $279 isn't a good deal too!

"Was" Let me travel back in time for that deal then. If the deal is current at OM, please provide the link to the $479 deal.

Yea, I've been looking for a "deal" for a few weeks now and there just doesn't seem to be anything out there as of late.

Spec wise I thought this was decent considering some of the rubbish the manufactures are throwing together and trying to get rid of on unsuspecting consumers.

We've seen better deals and we all know that even better deals are coming as Sandy Bridge and/or Windows 7 systems go on clearance.

    For $600, a Satellite P755 isn't much of a deal.

The entire point of this subforum is to report deals, not offers that aren't really deals at all.

I think what some posters here may have missed is that this model has a backlit keyboard. That option is hard to find in this price range; especially with 6GB RAM, and a huge HDD. I ran over my 4 yr old HP and I am getting twice as much computer here for 100 less. Plus a BACKLIT KEYBOARD :)
    WHOOHOO!
