Only perfect if you can live with such a small amount of space.

My fresh install takes up like 50GB with just Adobe Sutie & Starcraft II

If you do not think this is enough space, that means its probably not so better off saving for a larger capacity.

As long as you can live with the space limitation, $1 gig should replace any mechanical drives.

Perfect netbook SSD. Power consumption is reasonable on the V100 and much faster than any HDD. Space is always an issue, but for a non-gaming laptop, this should be adequate for most people unless you want to carry hundreds of GB of music, movies, photos with you.

That's still a little over an order of magnitude more expensive than a mechanical drive per space. That certainly isn't good enough to replace "any mechanical drive" on the merit of its cost.

Well, the speed is a lot faster. They both have utility, it depends on what you need it for. I'm just saying this certainly isn't for everyone just because it's $1/GB. Note that $1/GB is still massively expensive compared to mechanical hard drive prices.

SSD will need to approach traditional hard drive cost before you can make a blanket statement like that.

46GB used on a non gaming road warrior that has a clean install of windows 7, so 64GB would not suffice. :(

I was using a 32GB SSD on my netbook and it was fine. ~ 16GB for Windows and apps, and room for storage. Granted I didn't store much on it because, well, it's a netbook. Obviously depends on your usage.

Nice deal. Nearly $1 per GB. Decent SSD too.

Manufacturer specs are usually inaccurate. I know the V-series (SNV425) has horrible power consumption but V100 was supposed to be better. But definitely something to consider.

I was worried about the massive 6.4watt quoted so checked out for a real world test (link below). Going by the testing in the link below it isn't as bad as manufacturer quoted... read average 2.31 watts, write 3.24 watts. idle ave 1 watt.

Picked one of these up myself, but might have shelled out a bit more for a cooler and lower consumption one if I'd noticed that so cheers for pointing it out! Temp is a bit of a pain too, 38C under load compared with 28C for OCZ Vertex 2.
