That is some deal. According to their numbers, a savings of like $400. Good find!
-
That is an excellent find, i wonder why it's so cheap?
-
That's too cheap to be true. IF anyone decides to buy pls post opinion.
-
Guys its EIDE and if my memmory serves me correct, I belive all newer laptop are now using SATA connections. So its good for older laptops.
-
My PM965 chipset still uses EIDE I believe... how do the specs on in compare to just DVD/CD drives? I don't know too much about optical drives.
Edit: I bit the bullet and ordered one. I hope it comes as advertised; this is the first blu ray drive that's not prohibitively expensive for me. -
anyone know if this will work on a Gateway P-7811 FX?
-
Nope, I'm pretty sure 7811 uses SATA. Sorry
-
Check your drive in device manager. It will tell you what you are using now.
-
Man this does seem like an awesome deal. Just seems a little dodgy. Does anyone know if it will work with a t61p. My device manager lists a ATA device as my disc drive. Thanks.
-
crap i have an ATA controller.
That deal is unreal, lets hope it really is real though -
According to UPS I'll get mine tomorrow. If it turns out to be fake, I hope Paypal can take care of it...
-
Woah! I just saw this...Awesome deal!

Great deal! I wish my Macbook would support Blu-Ray...
... Although not a big deal to me...

seems too good to be true. anyone got it yet?

EIDE and ATA are the same interface. ATA, also known as PATA, is not the same as SATA.
From the Wikipedia entry fro ATA:

Mine just came in today. It came in a generic brown box wrapped in bubble wrap and then a sealed plastic sheet. On the site, it says that it's a factory-direct box so hopefully that's true. I don't have time to install it tonight and give it a whirl, but I'll tell you what it says on the label other than the S/N.

I don't know why it says HP on it; perhaps it was originally intended for use on HP laptops and came after the phase out to Montevina. Hopefully it's the real thing; I'll post an update tomorrow. -
I am guessing that these are probably overstock that were to go to HP or are from HP. Again I am just guessing, but please let us know how it goes. God Bless -
Argh. I should have realized when I ordered that since my FX has a slot-loader, the benzel won't fit a tray blu ray drive. I won't be able to let you know if it worked or not until I get my hands on a tray-load benzel.

I decided to just go and put it in without the bezel. I can confirm that the drive is in working order as far as CD-Rs and DVD-Rs are concerned. Unfortunately, I didn't expect to find this deal so I left my only blu ray movie at home over break (I'm in college). Hopefully I can find someone that has one and give final word about the deal.
