    You have to be really careful with this type of lock with the round key, as they can be unlocked with a pen top or a rolled up peace of paper, unless it is a new re-designed version that Kensington is now producing, but for a dollar i doubt it is.

    I have an combination lock i bought for a few dollars and it works great.

    I have a couple of these cheap locks. I put them on my monitor at work. They work fine despite smelling like fresh glue/paint. They didn't seem to be easily pick able with a pall point pen or paper. No laptop lock is really that secure anyway, its just a deterrent.
