    F.A.Q

    What is EPP?
It's an Employee/Educational Personal Purchase discount.

    Do I qualify?
Check with your employer or school IT dept.

    What is DPA?
Dell Preferred Account. It's like a Dell credit card and you don't get interest for 12 months on XPS purchases.

I can't see my DPA discount???
When checking out, you must choose any type of payment, except DPA. Then, from the drop down menu, choose DPA again, and your 4% discount will show up. To verify it, just view your cart again! :D

My work/school email doesn't go through?
Note: You must use your official company email so that we can confirm your eligibility. If you have difficulty obtaining your coupon, please send an email to [email protected] with your name, company name, email address entered below, phone number and "APRIL" in the subject line. Limit one coupon per eligible employee.

Can I return the lowjack software and downgrade the warranty and RAM?
Probably not! This was highly possible on the good old days... Dell got smart and knows this trick, and most reps are aware of it. If you are "very lucky", you may get some credit...

    Good luck :D

That April10 link goes to a non-Dell site, it looks like a scam. Be careful.

Dude, what are you talking about??? The April10 link is just to get a coupon code. In addition, it is being redirected from a valid Dell address!

I know that... But I still don't understand how this could be a scam? You're just getting a coupon code. You're not buying or providing any confidential information to that particular coupon website...

that site definately gives you a valid dell coupon code, if they arent dell then they know some of dells secrets

Has anyone ever sucessfully used one of the AAA 6% off coupons with these deals? It states its valid with all other offers but it wont discount anything in my cart, that would make this deal beyond amazing if I could get it to work.

How did you get $799 instant savings? Mine only comes up with $599, and I'm using the EPP site as you suggested.

Indeed. But how can I redeem the EPP coupon? I've tried @aol.com, @sbcglobal.net and some others. What kind of free email service can I use that will allow me to redeem the coupon?

Edit: Nevermind. @writeme.com works, as of now! Heard about it from http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=792451&page=7, at the end of the page.

I spoke with a Dell.com rep and they said that as long as you ship the laptop to a US address you can pay with a Canadian credit card. So if you have an Ameri-friend, you're in luck! Also if you get the 3 or 4yr warranty, your warranty will be valid in Canada also.

That's correct. If you get a 3-year warranty or higher, your warranty can be transfered to another country as long as Dell does some kind of business there....

Yeah, the screen resolution selection is horrible now. I wanted to get the 1440x900 because anything bigger is too small. I was going to order, but I am now considering not to.

I recently ordered using AAA. I clicked on the link in the email they send that also contains the code. That takes you to the Dell EPP site. After configuring your machine all the discounts should show up. Don't forget to get the extra 4% for using Dell Preferred Account. This link was very helpful in getting the most out of discounts.

Man for the price it would be totally worth it just to to check out the LED screen.. too bad it's not an option. I'm not paying the $1300+ to see this screen in person. The $400 price difference breaks the deal.

I ordered this laptop on 4/21/08 and yesterday Dell sent me an email saying my order was cancelled. I called today and they told me that too many discounts had been stacked on the laptop and it brought the price of the laptop down too much.

Anybody else ever run into this? Do I have any recourse? I was really happy with the configuration and the price I got on this.

    Thanks.

I think I'm having the same exact issue. I put in my order on the 21st as well and I checked the status of it today and it magically went from "In Production" to "Changed" with no address or ETA on Shipping (was supposed to deliver on tuesday) and no new order number. I can't get in touch with customer support about the order until Monday  and I think I just got screwed over.

Dell wasn't even nice enough to give me a phone call or an email saying my order was going to be canceled, I guess I'll have to contact them to find out they ripped me off.

Exact same for me, except I got an email saying the order was cancelled for credit card issues (not true!).

Try this number, I got through to customer service : 1-800-964-8321

    Let me know what happens!

I just called up Dell, and my customer support agent told me that the order was an "Illegal Configuration" and got into touch with a sales agent and he told me it was "too heavily discounted" so he had to cancel it. Nice guy tried to get me a new laptop but it was way out of my price range (like $1550 for the same laptop I bought for under 1100).

Absolutely ridiculous imo, now I have to go buy another laptop and I'd like to say screw dell, but my options for a quality laptop under 1100 are pretty much now a Vostro and a Vostro :(

The reps told me the exact same thing. What I don't get is why do they offer the discounts if you can't use them? I'm thinking of just waiting for another discount on the XPS or maybe going for an Inspirion (dont like the Vostro's so much).

The guy told me that the EPP 10% off coupon wasn't supposed to stack with the other deals (like the $750 off). Basically Dell realized they screwed up and didn't want to ship all these laptops for almost half price. I just hate how it took them almost a week to let me know that the laptop was too cheap for them to sell to me and then not even bothering telling me that my order was canceled.

Really? Had they offered me the laptop without the extra 10% off, I probably would've taken it, its still a decent deal with $750 off. I also don't get why it took them so damn long to tell me there was a problem.

It also says that you agreed to upon ordering that dell will look over the final pricing and configuration of the laptop and has the right to cancel any order it sees fit.

Did you really think you were gonna get that nice of a laptop for so cheap? It was worth a shot, but you cant really say F U dell and i will never buy again from them because of it.

I never said "F U dell" or that I would never buy from them again. Just saying its disappointing that 1) they didnt inform us sooner and 2) that they allow us to stack the discounts to begin with.
