the way how 8% apply now is:
you need to click cashback link at the top of website and it will bring you to a cashback welcome page where listed several categories.
you then can search a particular product such as WD harddrive.
beginning from here, the live.com will list several/pages products with prices from different retailers.
the cashback rates are varies, start from 2% to 8%.

If they were going to bring it back, they would have done so already.

For those of you that have received your cashback, on average, how many days did it take? I requested my funds 12/18/08 and emailed them twice about it. This was my reply:

Microsoft's Live Search cash-back chief joins exodus

    ---
Brad Goldberg, general manager for Live Search, has reportedly become the latest online executive to quit the company. Goldberg, who's joining investment-firm Peak 6, apparently launched Microsoft's Live Search cash-back programs and is the latest executive to leave Microsoft's online business.
    ---

A much more research oriented (v.s. marketing) guy from Yahoo is taking over.

Live Search looks even more like Yahoo with Goldberg's exit

    ---
The move could be indicative of a shift of mindset in the Live Search division from marketing to research, after the appointment of Dr. Lu to a president's post in charge of Online Services, effectively overseeing the post vacated by Kevin Johnson, that in turn oversees Goldberg's former post.

I've been reading about the Cashback program on other forums and it seems that the overwhelming majority have had problems getting Microsoft to pay out. Granted, I am not privy to the details of each case but if even 25% of them are what they say, it doesn't bode well for MS or for me. I can speak about my own case with certainty. I followed the rules listed HERE and HERE although the eBay rules state if there is a MS/eBay rule conflict, the eBay rule prevails. I have little confidence I will see any of that money without legal action. No matter how many emails I send, I just get the canned reply saying someone will contact me shortly. I am glad for those MS paid but it seems for every person they paid, there are 10 they chose not to pay.

Was wondering why I couldn't get that cashback coin showing up on my eBay selections! Nothing on Live Cashback's own page to say they are no longer viable. Fortunately, on Dec. 21 I got my $105 cashback from an item purchased six weeks prior!

I needed to save up some moolah before continuing to take advantage of cashback...and now *poof* it's gone! :(

I requested $836 into a PayPal account that was not accepting payments(it wasn't limited until 4-5 days after the request was made). It shows the payment was deposited but obviously it cannot be and it isn't showing in my 'payment's received'. Anyone know if I can somehow check 'declined payment's'?

Well, if MS follows its own rules, you have to wait 30 days to see it return to your Cashback account. Then you can request it again, perhaps by check if I read the rules correctly.

Was this post towards me? If so, I've tried plenty of things discussed on those websites to get my funds released but they don't budge. I've learned to be content with it, afterall on June 10th I will get $3,700 that I'm not really expecting.

Darn, I was hoping to find some help for you. I simply did a search for "paypal complaints" and found those two links which, with cursory inspection, seemed to be the best ones among the batch of links.

I've yet to experience a Paypal rippoff, but I only use their service several times a year, AND I am not a seller. It is an egregious shame that Paypal gets away with highway robbery, and that there seems to be little one can do when ripped off.

Ebay's day in the sun seems to be over, too. See what happens when a person (or company) gets greedy!

That's okay, I do appreciate you trying though. I'm sure the links will help someone else. I completely agree, I was verified on PayPal for over 2 years, 100% feedback on eBay (85 transactions). For every sale I made within the last year I received positive feedback and tracking was provided. They just somehow still consider me as a "risk".
