I had bought that kit from Fry's for my MBP, but one of the sticks failed a memory test. Probably just my rotten luck with Corsair stuff as no memory or SSDs I've bought from them has ever worked right or lasted more than a couple months.

My luck with buying memory has been pretty bad in general. Over half the sticks I have bought in the last 4-5 years have failed memtest86+. :(

I've learned to pony up and spend the extra $$ upfront to get the amount of memory I want from the notebook maker. Never had a failure with the stuff sent with the system.

Almost jumped on this deal till I read some reviews. Seems many have had issues with failure or not working ram sticks.

I bought two of these sticks for $85 each a few months ago from Fry's, I've had no issues with them.

I've also messed around the the SPD, and added XMP to them with no problems.

Nearly all of the bad reviews on Newegg seem to be from Macbook Pro users. Corsair has a "Mac" version of this RAM, so I assume this kit doesn't work well with MBP's.

same here i bought the kit a couple of months ago and they passed the memtests and have been working fine for me. i only have 1 small issue which doesnt cause me any problems, is the that the bios doesnt detect the ram it reads it as 2 sticks of 0gb, but inside windows and specs software everything reads fine

Wow, that is bad luck. I've never had a laptop RAM go bad. Desktop a couple times, but never laptop. Although the RAM I did have go bad was promptly replaced with new stuff, most have lifetime warranty. I had original DDR replaced with brand new stuff by Kingston, just a year or so ago. I was impressed.

Too bad though because manufacturers usually charge an arm and a leg anything more than what's stock, especially if you go for what's considered "large" amount of RAM (in this case 16GB).
