I saw this over at Engadget. It looks like Staples is offering the 16GB HP Slate for $299 this weekend. You have to print off a coupon to get the extra $100 and it's valid in store only. It seems a pretty good deal for a tablet. I just wish I had a Staples nearby.

Is this a closeout for the TouchPad line or just an inventory reduction? The price is alright, but there again, the first generation iPad reached the same $299 pricepoint through Verizon last spring and nobody in their right mind is questioning the future of iOS and the iPad. I wish I could say the same about WebOS 3.0 and the TouchPad, and any buyer has to ponder if HP is trying to perform CPR on the TouchPad with this promotion? Great value, and probably the right price point for any iPad competitor.

I tried this earlier and got shot down at Staples. I been researching all over the web to see how people were able to get this deal. Apparently, there's a certain way to do this to get it to work:
1) Since most staples stores do not carry the 16GB, go to the kiosk and special order it. Select "Pay at Register"
2) When you are at the register, present the $100 off touchpad coupon.
I'm going to try this later. If you have nice managers at your Staples, you may not have to jump through these hoops.
