They really need to stop calling that a "portable hard drive" when its regular size and needs to be plugged in a wall. Not your fault though OP. Its still a great deal but not for my needs.

I was just about to come post this deal. I had been waiting for another good storage deal. I am always having to manage my space and delete stuff so I just got two of these! Should hold me off for awhile.
Problem is I dont want a spider web of externals so I am going to try to open one of these up and install the drive internally to my computer.
I heard somebody broke there drive doing that before because the WD enclosures are made in a way that you cant open but that is probably not the case for all of them, or maybe he was just unlucky.
I am tempted to go buy more of them as this is just a really good deal. No stores have it for pickup in my area so I will be waiting for back-order. W/Free ship I dont mind.
edit: kind of a bookmark for me and sharing the info for others

I just hope they fill my order for two, and they dont cxl it like they did my $10 HDTV
If they do I will eye down some 1.5TB drives anyways as I use so much space more capacity per drive is a good idea. -

Nice find, Thanks!

They will honor the deal like they did in this case as long as its not a price error. This was a real sale price.
The 52" TV for $10.00 last week was a price error so all of us had our orders canceled.
Stay tuned if you want to figure out what kind of drive is inside of these, I plan to open atleast one of them up when I get it. -

Both drives came today, UPS guy like slammed the box down but both drives survived.
I have installed both drives as internal drives rather than external. I was going to use one of them as an external but I already have a 1TB Mybook external and its hard to accomdate a power plug, desk space, and usb port for it, also I feel that the speed suffers as an external via usb.
So here is the lowdown.
The drive you got inside of these is...... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136317
1TB Western Digital Green
To get the enclosure apart I used a small flat screw driver and poped the outter casing away from the sides until I was able to slide it off, there are two lock pins under the rear two rubber feet but they are nearly impossible to depress and they dont really keep the case from poping off so it was easier to just leave them alone.
Both external enclosures are fully in tact and re-usable by any 3.5" drive so I think I will sell them here on NBR for like $5.00 so that somebody else can use them.
To format the drives to Windows I just used Vistas drive management and did a quick format as NTFS

I hate when delivery guys mishandle drives. I just about melted down when I saw the UPS guy drop my box with drives from Dell.
