Nice to see admissions is free. I wonder if getting a part-time job at Best Buy qualifies me as being the consumer electronics industry :p

Best Buy employees would be considered an affiliate with Consumer Electronics, since they deal with mostly electronics and new products, and they need the info from CES to educate the customers.

I own my own computer company, but alas free admission does not = free plane ticket or time off work/family duty :(

Sure if you want to write a few articles for the site :D

I can even give you my business card template and put your name on it as well as a domain email address.

Well, time to go find a paystub so I can sign up.

What's better is that it ends on my birthday oddly enough... I should take pictures when I go :D

I was there for CES 2009, I had a blast. Well, aside from the Venetian Tower "you're locking my restroom even though I paid how much?" mess. Fingers crossed that I have no scheduling conflicts for 2011.

Hey, I'm a Computer Science Major. I would write a few articles to be able to go to CES. Going to take alot of pictures there if I do go.

For those looking to attend CES in the future, the main requirement is that you are affliated with a tech site and/or contribute content based on technology. For example, as a freelance journalist and PC product reviewer, I write for a number of sites which allows me entrance into CES every year.

All you need to do during registration is provide links to your work (be it a blog, product review, or an article) and your contact information. Ensure that your name appears in the byline of any article you write because CES will follow up for verification.

If anyone is planning to do CES this year, I would start writing those articles and making your plans now, especially if you need lodging. Vegas fills up fast prior to CES. Also, if you are planning to interview specific companies, get a hold of them ASAP and make an appointment. Take a good camera (obviously) and something to record notes with. Be familiar with your surroundings and have a plan of attack for CES.

Make a list and visit the companies you most want to see and stick to it because you will be easily sidetracked. Wear comfortable shoes because you'll be doing a lot of walking, especially since companies have started hosting their products and product demos off site in hotels away from the CES venue. They've started doing this to cut costs and avoid the larger crowds that are only interested in getting free company swag.

It's easy enough to find shuttles, but I understand what you're getting at. Sometimes you'll find entire clusters of exhibits at off site locations.
