I'm surprised it includes the new xx20 models.

Me too, but now's the time to grab a 1320/1520/1720 if you want one! The 13" 1320 is tempting me...if it had an LED display, I'd probably have mine ordered already.... -
no HDMI... no eSATA...

Great deal if your interested in a Vostro. You guys do realize that coupon is stackable? You get 35% off and $99 instant off. Sweet deal. Too bad I already bought a Toshiba.
Hopefully they'll have something like this when W7 comes out. -

No regrets! The Toshiba is great looking and has a lot of consumer-oriented features that Vostro and other business notebooks don't offer.... -
too bad it doesn't apply to the E6500 model!

Well, there's always the Outlet for the E6400/E6500...they come with the 3-yr warranty and all. -
i wished the outlet had a more organized layout, you really have to get lucky if your looking for a particular model with particular specs or make some sacrifices. but i suppose anything to save a couple of hundred bucks, right?

The "search filter" in the Dell Outlet is all but useless. It needed an upgrade years ago, but who knows if they'll ever get around to it. They don't want to make it TOO easy to find exactly what you want, they probably count on some people getting frustrated and ordering a new one!
One secret that I've learned to finding higher-spec systems- sort by price from Highest to Lowest. Then just start pulling up the detailed specs individually. It can take hours (and give you carpal tunnel syndrome) but it can also payoff. I got both of my E6400s for less than 50% of their 'new' price! The key is flexibility- the hard drive, optical drive and RAM are all very easy upgrades, so don't worry much about those. Even the backlit keyboard can be added for under $50. The main specs to get are the desired display (WXGA+ LED or WUXGA on the E6500) and processor (although the base spec is the P8400, so there are no 'bad' processors)! -
you do realize that there are people who can live without those two ports... -

Being Dell's entry-level business line of notebooks, it's logical that they will lack some features of higher-end models. The lack of eSATA is unfortunate, but hardly a deal-breaker for its target demographic... -
Yeah, the E6500 is an easier model to look for since the base P8400 is good enough. I'm always looking for one with the WXGA+ LED screen, NVS 160M, fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard and hoping it has a Intel 5300, although the last two can probably be self upgraded.
