Couldn't actually believe it till i tried it! I really wanted a small notebook that would be Vista capable. Thanks to a link provided in this forum to slickdeals. Apparrently people are receiving XPS system coupons for 30%, 50% and in at least one instance, 75% off.. rare..very rare. I've actually never seen this type discount on XPS machines before.
On the slick deal forums, people who didn't need a notebook were giving away the codes. After configuring a nice $2000.00+ M1210, i tried several codes....BANG, the fourth or fifth 30% off worked. ...and get this...STACKABLE with 12% off EPP. Total off: 42% ...PLUS... $150.00 mail-in rebate.

    Estimated Ship Date: 07/11/2006

    Item Number Quantity Item Description
XPS M1210, Intel Core Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)
12 inch Wide-screen WXGA Display with TrueLife, Camera,WW Ant, Ear Buds, for XPS M1210
    1GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm for XPS M1210
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 TurboCache, for XPS M1210
60GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, for XPS M1210
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 English
    Bluetooth 2.0
    3 year @home warranty
    resource cd's..

    Subtotal: $1248.01
    Shipping & Handling: $0.00
    Tax: $74.88

    Total: $1322.89

After configuring and saving to my cart, I called this order in through the EPP site and received my email confirmation. I think the $150.00 rebate will actually be in the form of a Dell coupon for accessories ;)

This forum is great...the whole site!

    Thanks gang.

That is one of the best deals i've ever seen on an XPS, there are nearly never codes for higher than 10% off. But if you want to get technical it's 38% off because the 12% comes off the price after the coupon.

Getting technical is fine ;) It was something like $778.00 off in total, plus $150.00 mail-in rebate.

Wait, don't you have to be an employee to use the EPP thing? Are you an employee, or did you just use an employee code? I thought that 35% off coupon was a Dell Home deal, and it stopped working for XPS systems. (sorry if this is a dumb question...)

Alot of company's have an EPP buy program with Dell, including where i work.
The best i was ever able to configure was 12% off and you had to get at least a 3 year warranty to do it. The 30% stackable code made it too good.

You must have an EPP account to use the coupon. The coupon is one-time use that is sent to EPP members' email accounts. It can range anywhere from 30% off to 75% off any system $999+.

yeah, I got that coupon too, I can get a fully loaded 17" XPS, normally $4666, for $2600 after all is said and done (including $200 mail-in rebate), and its a big bigger/heavier than I would like, but its just SO POWERFUL, that I might just say f it and go for it, and it actually can get up to like 3 hours of battery life doing office work which is pretty good

Wow ... someone on the somethingawful forums was offering to get people ridiculously low prices on XPS systems, but when I emailed him he could only get about $200 off my $1800 configuration. Maybe I should try to find someone with this EPP account ... it's probably impossible to get the m1210 under $1200 no matter what, though. And it seems the coupon doesn't work anymore, according to the people on eBay. ($2.99 shipping for a coupon code? lol)

Thx for explaining. : ) Some people with ebay accounts must be making a ****load of money with deals like this.

Getting it under $1200 is definitely possible. A lot of people got pretty good configs during the Inspiron coupon mistake a few weeks ago for around that price, and the base config of the M1210 with the EPP 30% off coupon is ~$800. It doesn't seem to latch on automatically anymore, but you might get lucky with a phone order (tell them that the coupon specifically includes XPS systems) to force the coupon to your M1210 order.

That is, if you had a coupon and an EPP membership.

The $150.00 rebate is automatic from Dell through EPP when you configure with 3/4 years at home warranty service. If you log into Dell via your EPP #, you'll see it.

Each coupon is a one time use. You need to provide your own coupon from EPP emails or from someone who has one they aren't using.

How does one log in via an EPP # ? I have an account at Dell, I could not find were to enter the EPP #.
I'm not seeing the rebate when I log in, I did get a 3 year on site warranty.

    www.dell.com/eppbuy

It is a completely different login link.
You need to provide your own coupon.
You need to have an epp#. Your employer or school, or what-have-you provides the #.

Hmm.. I assume this is a deal that I DO NOT wanna miss out on..? I calculated some stuff and if Dell lets me I'll buy two 30% off coupons on eBay and use them in seperate Carts. (is this allowed?)

    I calculated together:
Dell D420 (just the basic stuff, didn't add anything)
XPS 400 Desktop + 24" LCD Monitor + Windows CD

Around $2300 (including tax, ship, an environmental fees)...

    Is this hot or not?

Yeah, i actually had a D620 in my saved cart for a while, and the rep @ DellEPP saw it. I could've bought the Latitude and did consider it.

Guy's, it's actually a gift card. The gift card option and amount is determined by the warranty bundle chosen. The option comes up right after you choose which notebook you want to customize. Sorry for the confusion.

I still don't get it - you guys used a normal Inspiron 30% off coupon on an XPS if you went through EPP? ?

Anyway, what is the protocol to get an "EPP membership?" I go through my school's site, but how do I sign up onto the mailing list for coupons, or dell offers?

This was not a "normal Inspiron" coupon. This was a special EPP coupon, that was valid on ALL systems, latitudes, precisions,XPS,Inspirons. Yours truly obtained his M90 thru the coupon.
Here is one thread about getting coupons:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=65091

These coupons may also be obtained by buying thru ebay, nothing to lose however by using above thread method - only one email address is required, which can be used to sign up for muliple accounts at Dell.

I am assuming such deals will occur in future too. Probably Dell will send out one time use coupons for home buyers, so that corporations still have to pay full price on their business lines, but at the same time the one time use coupons will push buyers like me to buy Dell systems which we would not have purchased otherwise. I was waiting for Asus z96 to be released, when this coupon came out :)

This was apparently the first time coupons were released which were valid on all systems - so dunno when this will happen again.

The other day when I called Dell and tried to get a dumb operator to push through an XPS with an Inspiron coupon (on a certain part of Dell's website, the XPSs are advertised as Inspirons although the Inspiron coupons specifically exclude XPS), he told me that he wasn't born yesterday and that there was no way that Dell would ever have a 30% coupon for XPS systems. I kind of laughed and hung up on him...
