That's a bit of an exaggeration; my 7422GX can get 2:40 easily in "laptop/portable" with the GPU set to "performance"; additional power saving and you should be able to reach 3 hours.

This is a fantastic computer for everything from productivity to modern games like DooM 3. My concern would be the ~7.5 pound wight, more than battery life. Still, it's quite a steal at $1249, which is what I paid for my 7422GX.

If you already purchased this notebook, just take your receipt back to your place of purchase. Most places have a 30 day pricematch garuntee. Bestbuy will give you 150 back...thats what I did and with the extra got a faster HDD. It was great cuz I also got a encloser for the 100gb 4200rpm and now i have a sweet external as well

I'm actually writing a review for this notebook, but haven't gotten to the battery life yet. The core is a newer, 90nm one. The fan is quieter and comes on less often than the one on the 7422GX does. I wouldn't be surprised to see the battery life break 3 hours easy.

Where did you order/buy the enclosure HD from? Also I may need some installing a new hd if I choose to buy it.

How does the Gateway 7510GX with ATI Mobility RADEON X600 128MB compare to the Dell Inspirion 9300 with nVidia GeForce Go 6800 256MB?
Should I jump on this Gateway or wait for another Dell coupon?
I have no experience with either brand. What would you do?

this notebook is what im considering to buy right now. im just curious about how well it performs with high-end games. also the 4200rpm makes me a bit apprehensive. does the 42000prm really have much affect compared to a 5400prm hd?

I play Unreal Tournament 2004 on mine. It's smooth like butta.

The 4200rpm speed is obvious when you start working with hd intense files. It doesn't bother me too much though. In the back of my mind I know that the 4200rpm drive is saving battery life / producing less heat / quiet. I love that I have this 100GB hd full of movies and music and that I have them all within a click of my portable mouse.
