    I was not too familiar with the second site, so I skipped that one and bought from Adorama and selected next day shipping. 80 bucks but if its a typo and they end up sending it before the realize it... then I can get lucky that way. I probably would have just done 2 day, but the reasoning from the above poster made sense.

    I'm cheap as crap, I chose 3 UPS. My logic is that they won't ship it any faster than an order with overnight shipping, since the only difference is how long it's in transit.

    Sometimes with next day, they know its intended to be rushed so they push it out of the store faster... Not always, but usually that has been my experience. Honestly, I see them sending me an email saying that the real price is 1600 and they messed up anyway, so whats the diff. If I get it for 230 out the door with next day, I'm perfectly fine with that. If you get it at 161, then thats an even sweeter deal if it pans out.

    I just did some research and noticed that buy.com had the same price mix-up and they are out of stock now. How could this have happened to multiple stores?

    I'll take a stab at it. Maybe HP provides pricing guidance for these resellers. This SmartBuy was discontinued back in March, so there might have been a large batch sent out to resellers to clear inventory and someone at HP missed a zero when providing suggested pricing. :confused:

    All of the Pre-configured models are SmartBuys (I think). But the information about that model being discontinued came from [H]ard Forum (which is where I got the deal links from as well).

    Oh, good catch. At this price, I really didn't pay much attention to the specs. TheNerds also has a dual-core model and an 8460w model for the same price.

    $161.11 is a bargain for an Elitebook but I suspect someones head will roll when they eventually will find out the error. I would be surprised if they didn't have a small print that protect themselves from pricing errors like some other e-tailers.

    I do not expect them to ship but we might get lucky since more than one site had the same price. If the price is determined by HP and not the site, it might get overlooked for a day or so....

    I doubt this will work but ordered a couple myself. These things sell for like $2500-3000 elsewhere so if they do ship I put them on CL for $1500 a piece and make a quick $2500.

    I am 101% sure that it's typo & order will be refund, it never make sense to sell Elitebook for just $160 while just Intel QC 2860M is more costly than this :)

    I ordered one. If it works out, I'll give it to my daughter for college (she starts in the fall) even though she's happy with her totally pimped out Studio Dell 1749; for the price, it would be a nice upgrade for her down the line as I'm sure in a year or two she will be hitting up, "The Bank of Dad," for an upgrade. :)

    If not, no harm; no foul. I, too, am sure it is a massive typo but worst case scenario is a full refund. *shrug*

    The fact that they have not addressed it yet really makes the possibility of arguing/fighting this more likely. Other price errors get addressed usually within an hour or 2, let alone a full day.

    Well as far as that logic goes... the other 2 you mentioned are modified. The 8460w was changed to the appropriate price and the dual core is no longer available... That was from the geek page though.

    At first I thought it could be an issue with them having control of your money over the weekend, but funds dont clear until it ships... It'll be fun to see how this all pans out but as far as I'm concerned... its not going to work for any of us.

    I'm sure they wouldn't miss something like this. If they only got a few orders it might go through because it wouldn't raise any eyebrows. But they probably got hundreds if not thousands of orders when they probably only get a handful a week for that laptop.
