I found this awesome laptop on eBay.
Too bad, it's a SCAM

Let's see the item's description:
• Model: Sager NP8662 (Built on Clevo M860TU)
• Display: 15.4 WSXGA+ Glossy (1680x1050)
• Intel® Q9000 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Quad 2.0GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB
• RAM: 4048 MB DDR3 1066MHz
• HDD: 250GB 5400RPM SATA/150
• CD: DVD±R/RW
• Wireless: Built In "N" WIFI & Bluetooth
• 15.4" WSXGA+ "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1680x1050)
• nVidia GeForce GTX 260M 1,024MB PCI-Express DDR3 DX10
• Dont MISS With Paypall Secure Payment

Any pictures of the item for sale or its box?

Let's see where the seller is from and where they ship to:
Take a closer look at the items this seller has for sale:

Does anybody notice ANYTHING peculiar?

Firstly, look at the type of items the seller generally sells, and also take a look at the seller's history.
Secondly, look at the ending times of all these items, they are within minutes of each other, I'm guessing they were listed within minutes as well.
Thirdly, most people on eBay that sell within a niche and are successful at it, don't sell out of that niche. It's strange to find all these clothes and then a few high tech objects stuck between.
Finally, The person is in Cyprus. Cyprus!? And they are catering to Americans. I know how geographically literate most Europeans are, but the majority of my fellow countrymen in the United States couldn't find some U.S. Territories or neighboring countries, must less a Mediterranean Island Nation.

Guys BEWARE! Fellow countrymen, BEWARE! NBR Brethren, BEWARE! Buyer BEWARE! Bidder BEWARE!

My personal favorite is the $150.00 long sleeve black Lacoste shirt...

Not surprisingly, as you point out, NO picture of the ACTUAL laptop.

Did anybody here see the Judge Judy episode where the defendent, an Ebay seller, was being sued because she advertised a cellphone and then sent the plaintiff (the buyer) a picture of the cellphone? The seller argued that the auction stated clearly it was for ONLY a picture and, for that, the buyer paid over 200 bucks.

Needless to say, the plaintiff (the buyer) won.

The trial is available on YouTube. Really opens your eyes to how low some people will stoop.

Another Judge Judy Ebay case where the scammer is suing the buyer. The scammer was the seller and sold a cellphone that could only be used in Canada but didn't bother disclosing that in the ad.

Shameless.

Look at the bidding history on this item.

Someone with 1 purchase kept bidding up the price. How much you wanna bet that that person is an alter-ego of the seller?

Why so serious!?

LOL, man I saw that Judge Judy episode and while she was reading the description I clocked in on the same thing the Judge did, the weight of the item.
Had she made it a really HEAVY picture of the item, she might won.. :nah:

Poll added to thread.

EDIT: Oh and I reported various items that the seller has up. Perhaps some of you good Samaritans might do the same? Save the guy that bid $1200 on this laptop?

I got scammed buying a HP HDX16t a while back Of course the specs and price were too good to be true, but I was young and stupid in the ways of the magical eBay. Thank God for Paypal buyer protection, haha.

I saw that right away too when Judge Judy was looking at the ad. In my line of work, I am used to looking for "needles in a haystack," i.e. figuring out what the other side has omitted or lied about.

I knew there was no way the envelope could weigh 4.90 oz.. The seller, scammer that she is, if she were bright, would have sent a bunch of trash.

There was a People's Court episode several years ago, around the third year of the iPod craze, where an older guy was suing some pricky kid who sold him, allegedly, an iPod on Ebay, and when the older guy opened up the envelope, it was filled with newspapers.

$2000 is below the statutory maximum for most, if not all, Small Claims Courts.

Heck...go on People's Court. :D
