This is a nice machine. I checked one out at BB. I know Acer gets a bad rep for build quality and such... but for the money it's hard to leave it on the shelf. I tried my best to hear the sound but the store is incredibly noisy so I can't say if it was any better than your average laptop. And just for the record, I'd get the one with the dedicated Nvidia graphics.

The 6920G has pretty good build quality. The sound is pretty good for a notebook speaker but if you truly want good sound, stick with a speaker set.
