Starting this Sunday, Bestbuy is selling the Acer Aspire One for $349.99, with the following specs,
8.9" Screen
XP Home
1gig memory
120gig HDD
To me seems like a pretty good deal, what do you think. I got this from the BB ad starting this Sunday from slickdeals.

Its great! I had the opportunity to play with one on Thursday in person (out of store). The laptop has a solid feel and is easy to type on. The size is great, the battery life is good (*4hs) and the screen looked really really good. It was clear, bright, and had great contrast as well as pixel density.
-
Thanks for your feedback, today im going to the BB by my house, hopefully they have a unit on display. If i end up liking it, i will get one on Sunday.
-
I think thats going to be the regular price everywhere,so its no hot deal.Acer announced its price cut.The Linus version is going to be $330,XP $350,and the one I would get and it might not be out yet is the XP w/ 6 cell battery and 160gb HDD for $399.So I would wait or atleast get it some place where they don't charge tax.

How is that exclusive to Best Buy?
-
Yeah sorry OP, this is just BB getting in line with Acer's recent price drop. I expect all the Acer resellers will also observe the new pricing scheme within a few days.

This model used to be $399, now the $399 model will have a 160gb HDD and 6 cell battery, I'm waiting for that to come out, especially in white.
-
Well,I read somewhere else that you can knock $100 off this from BB if you sign up to this internet promotion and then cancel it later.Making it $250.. closer to $300 with tax.,still making it a good deal. But I imagine its sold out in stores at this time. And its not available on it's website.
-
Also, what is the battery life with the 3 cell battery.
Thanks -
They were released yesterday and supposed to be available yesterday.
Best Buy is the ONLY place I've seen with lowered price.
I hope to see these show up at online vendors in the next week or two.
I will be buying the 160gb w/ 6 cell battery and XP version. -
i will tell you THIS is not the acer's we are all used to..it is an outstanding performer, the build quality is PERFECT it and kicks the $#@ out of both the msi wind and asus 1000h of which i have had and sold both..THIS BLUE ACER IS A KEEPER!
the battery life is being made more of than it is as..i get 3 hours and about 21 minutes on mine with wifi and all controls at normal settings....it is nice to have a separate storage expansion slot AND multicard reader..
as a side note, there are a couple of flaws with the current msi wind as the wifi is good for about 10 feet MAX and the space bar STICKS (common on other small msi laptops) and causes character run ons..
also, the acer is the ONLY current netbook with the proper shift key in size and location... -

By the way, it's available at bestbuy.com now, although you probably have to pay for shipping if you can't pick it up in-store. (I think it wasn't up on the site when the OP started this thread. If the link doesn't work, search for SKU 8967335.)
EDIT: It's not available for in-store pick-up and shipping is $20 minimum. -

People are putting it up on Craigslist now:
Miami $399
Orange County $440
I wonder if Acer would honor the warranty on a unit purchased from a pseudo-end user.
EDIT: Oh, and it (same model number, though maybe not in the same color) is available for the same price at Micro Center, with shipping a hair less than what bestbuy.com charges. -
You can get the base model for $329 + free shipping + 5.5% off using microsoft live at newegg now too.

Still waiting on the new model to hit resellers.

CDW has the 6 cell battery listed for $119.99.
I really want the $399.99 version that includes the 6 cell battery and 160GB, don't need the extra 40GB, the 6 cell i/o 3 cell is worth waiting for. -
I played with the Acer yesterday. Thing is horrible IMO!
Keyboard is tiny, built quality seems only decent and the screen is dim!
My OPINION! No flaming please -
I picked one up at BB Monday. I have yet to open it because I am not sure if I want to keep it. I have seen alot of positive reviews which makes me want to rip open the box
-
I want one but it seems BB has been out of stock. Walmart online has it for $399 but it still lists 120GB version.
How much of advantage does 6 cell provide over 3 cell? -
More than double the usage time. 6 cell battery is a must IMHO.
-
All the local BB stores are now showing the Aspire One as "in stock" again.
I'm waiting for the 6 cell version and have it on order at buy.com, if you want the 3 cell then check Best Buy or Micro Center for stock in your area if you want to buy it locally. -

I have seen the blue 6cell 160gb model on amazon in stock for a couple of weeks now. I did not get it tho until I got done doing all my research.
The deal killer for me was that reviews of it showed it was not quite as nice as the Wind or 1000H and also that it has no bluetooth *and it was only blue*
Now the 1000H has has a price cut thats what I am going with. $450 for it now w/ 6cell and 160gb hdd.
The annoying shift key problem has been solved, people map the up arrow key to be the right shift key, thats about the only flaw I have heard about on the 1000H.
