Not that amazing of a deal...
    If you got to geared2play.com
You can get an asus s96j with:

    Dual t2400 (1.83g)....Acer comes with t2300(1.66g)
    1024gb(1gbx1) ddr2 667mhz..Acer 512MB x 2 ddr2 533mhz
**only have to use up one slot for asus***
100gb hard drive 5400 rpm sata. .Acer 120 gb HD 5400rpm sata
    ATI Radeon x1600 256mb PCI-Express ..Acer has ATI Radeon x1600 128mb PCI-Express
Both have windows xp home, Asus has no extra programs to un-install
    Both DVDrw's
    Both 15.4 WXGA (1280X800)

    Geared2play price.. $1352
minus asus discount of $200 $1152
    minus Geared2play 2 pecent discount $ 27 $1125

    New Egss Price $1069
    Difference of $56

Not trying to put down the offer. It's still a good offer but if you spend an extra $56 you get a better built computer, faster processor, higher memory video card, faster memory and more memory slots, less crap to uninstall, more options to add warranties and other components. I think the two extra years of warranty are the same at both but didn't check.

All you give up is 20gb of hard drive space and $56. Not bad huh

That discount doesn't work with the S96j. If you actually READ it, it only works on Asus Ensemble notebooks only. Like the W3j etc. So your saving around 200$ buying it from newegg. Not quite as speced out as the one from geared2play.com the way bloke911 configured it, but not far at all behind. This is a quite a good deal! +Rep for the good find. :)

Arghhh. I don't know if I want to go for this or just hang onto my E1505 x1400. I'm a pretty avid gamer, so the x1600 is a huge bonus. BUT my e1505 has a WUXGA 1600x1050 screen which is very, very nice.

Plus, I'd need to sell my E1505. How much could I get for it? $900? $1000?

    Argh! What to do!

Eh, I decided to pass. After doing some searching on these forums, seems like the Acer 128 MB x1600 isnt't that hot for gaming plus the lappy has some reliability issues.

I am really surprised that you question the quality of Asus. I can understand the quality of Acer, but really... asus?
