    Hi.

I resisted the urge to buy a laptop during the black Friday sales, and feel that was a good choice given some of the deals that I've seen lately.

The most important thing for me was to get a laptop under $900 but with the best graphics card possible...

During black Friday, the best I could see was an HP with 9600M GT for $850 before tax. There was also a refurbished 8700M GT for $830.

    Now, I've seen a 9650 GT for $900, a 9700 GS for $999 etc etc.

I am really, REALLY killing myself over missing that Gateway P-7811 deal for $750.... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4348628&CatId=3998

I will be waiting until after christmas in the hopes that such a deal pops up again, but here's my question.

Will after Christmas be the best time to snag a sale like that? Is there any possibility that something like that gateway P-7811 deal will come up again? When is the best time to pick up a good refurbished deal?

Oh how I wish I can get a 9800-level card for $900 or less...

You can always get good prices around the year, no need to wait for special event. If you want it, get it.

    Holy ****

    8800 for $600?!?

    Wow... :(

I hope the chances of things like that popping up will increase during after Christmas season...

Is the best way to look for such deals to just revisit this forum every hour or so? :D Or go through every site individually... What are some tactics?

I've heard of xoticpc and powernotebooks, but although their deals aren't too bad, they still weren't jawdropping...

Here of course is the easiest way, but anybody that posts here most likely got it from a deal website like Slickdeals.net, and chances are by the it gets posted it will nearly sold out. So aside form just constantly surfing sites like Buy.com, Amazon, Tiger Dircect, etc., your best is to watch deal websites. Some one recently posted a thread in this section with recommendations.

Yep, like that site too, but it's often a little slow on updating laptop deals, so maybe not the best site in this instance.
