Yeah, I think you're right, quite a discrepency in pricing. But good price for a M15x.

If you're looking for a powerful 15" and can wait a month or so, get the new Sandy Bridge Sager NP8130 for ~ $1260 with GTX 460m, i7-2630QM, 500GB HDD, 8GB RAM, 1080p display. Sager NP8130 (Built on Clevo P151HM1) Custom Sager Laptop

XoticPC and other resellers manage your repairs for you. They deal directly with Sager so you don't have to.

Sager notebooks are awesome build quality and have great cooling. But yeah, Sager as a customer service company has a lot to be desired. But that's why you buy through a reseller.

    A couple comments...

Talking with xoticpc about asus models they told me they handle the repairs if its something they added but you RMA it to the vendor if its the original vendors problem. They said they could setup the RMA for you but its still going to the vendor for service in those cases.

Also, thinking about this, sager has a sweet gig... they don't make anything, just take clevos fine products and rebadge them, and most people buy through resellers so they don't have to deal with sager. So pretty much sager just manages the clevo relationship and rakes in cash. Kinda sweet. lol.

That said, if the np8130 was available right now I'd own one. ;-)

The way I understand it, Clevos come in barebones, as in chassis with LCD. Sager assembles CPU, GPU, wi-fi, HDD/SSD, ODD, and they also test and warrant the machines. All repair work goes to Sager, but your reseller manages it for you.

In general if you buy a sager it was already assembled by sager before your reseller got it

If you got a clevo your reseller assembled it.

There are two main go betweens for clevos in north america theres sager, and eurocomm. Almost all machines were bought from one or the other.

You can buy clevos from sager.

Thats the business they have been in since the 80s. The middleman for clevos.

Maybe I'm missing this somewhere, but what's the screen resolution on the M15x? I don't see it on NewEgg...

    I believe it's the 1600 x 900 900p screen, not the 1080p.

I will second the Sager recommendation over this M15X deal.

Better screen and better CPU makes it a no brainer ;)

The only thing that the M15X has over the Sager is its next-day tech house call warranty, which is especially good for people who only have one computer in their house and can't afford downtime. Some people would prefer that, even though they get a downgrade. ;)
