I will probably be taking advantage of this deal soon, and now that they are giving a iPod touch instead of an iPod nano it just makes the deal even sweeter. Don't forget you can also get a free printer, I think that is only online though.

Hmm... I wonder if I bought it in-store if they would give me a copy of iWork and MobileMe, since I would not be receiving the printer. I've never bought a Mac before, your thoughts?

:D.. sounds lucrative! I'm not too fond of Mac's. If I were to get this deal, I'd keep the iPod and printer, and sell the laptop to get a nice Thinkpad/Latitude/Clevo.

I've been wanting a iPod Touch for awhile now. You think with the price drop in the iPhone they will drop the price of the iPod Touch too? Should I wait for the next gen, or buy now? Hmm, decisions, decisions. At least this gives me a new opinion of buying a iPod Touch and selling the Mac to cover it or part of it. Anyone interested in a Macbook? LOL

EDIT: Anyone know if this includes refurbished Macbooks?
    EDIT2: No.

    I don't think it covers refurbished Mac's... :(

It would be nice for many, if it did. :D

Beter yet, go to your local bestbuy store and get one of the $899 macbook white model for $849.99. They will also give you the free ipod touch for FREE (no rebates)!!!. You will walk out of the door with the macbook and ipod touch for around $900. Now that is the best deal you can get out of this whole thing.

You say you are student. Sometimes they ask for a school ID. This is the same exat white model apple has with a 2.0ghz CPU which does not make any differnece in anyways. Just $100 less.

FYI, since it's a rebate you do have to pay for it up front so the out of pocet cost is kinda high.

Also, they dropped the price on the MacBook Pros $300

Yeah, I was surprised to see the new 13 inch Macbook Pro was only $1100. That actually makes me consider getting a Mac. Still more pricey than a PC, but for a unibody aluminum laptop it's not too bad.

But its not really a Macbook Pro, just a metal macbook, it only has a 9400m gpu. "Pro" used to mean dedicated gpu, they just gimped it out.

I am a resident of Connecticut and the terms and condition to qualify for the free iPod are a little different for Connecticut and Rhode Island residents.

    * Residents of Rhode Island and Connecticut who purchase in an Apple Retail Store in their state, or who order online or through Telesales with a credit card with a Connecticut or Rhode Island
billing address, receive an instant rebate and are not eligible for any additional rebate.

So does this mean if I buy a macbook, I am only eligible for the free Ipod and not the $100 printer rebate?

This is actually a very nice deal. Buy a Macbook for $950 and free shipping and sell the touch for $200. $750 for a 13" notebook with a 9400M in it is not shabby.

Actually, no they didn't. All they did is introduce a Pro at a lower price with reduced specs. The Macbook pro with the midrange gpu that has always been $2k is still $2k. Now they have a $1700 one with a 9400M, that's all. Quite frankly $1700 for a 15" laptop with a 9400M is INSANE. If it were $1700 for the hybrid graphics it would be more reasonable but still poor value compared to most Windows based.

Or they, like others, use this as an opportunity to "borrow money without having to pay interests." :)

I'm sure they're counting on not everyone actually mailing it in. People will not care, forget, or miss some sort of loophole and ultimately they won't have to pay out as much.

Yes, after going from a business laptop to consumer laptop, I can now say that the build quality of a laptop is amongst my top priorities. Don't get me wrong, I like power--I have a dedicated video for crying out loud and I don't even game or watch HD movies!--but given that I seldom do more than web surf, email, and office, power is really no concern as a Atom could handle that. The wear and tear on the laptop seems a much important thing to consider for a student who takes his laptop everywhere with him. If thought I was implying I like the looks of the aluminum--which I do--that's not at all what I meant. I could care less about looks. I think ThinkPads look great!
