I think you're right. Last week, ZZF had the ASUS G1S-A1 for $100 more, at $1,559 with a $40.00 instant coupon. In any case, I wonder if this price cut begs the question if ASUS is trying to get rid of these notebooks to make way for a new model that will replace it? What do you guys think? Any truth to this?

I agree, but it may just be ZZF trying to cut out the competition...That's fine by me if I can get a great notebook for that low price!

They also have the B1 version for $1827.98 with the $40 thing. I would get that one, but I havent heard of the difference in battery life. The A1 version only gets about 2 hours as is...

The difference between the two G1S laptops is simply between their processors and hard drives. The A1 version has a T7500 processor, and the B1 a T7700, which means a difference of a mere 200MHz; something you surely will not notice at all. The hard drive difference is 40GB. The A1 sports a 160GB HDD, while the B1 has a 200GB HDD. To me, an extra $300 is not worth an additional 40GB of HDD space and 200MHz of processor speed. As far as battery life goes in the B1, I would say that it would be worse than the A1 since the T7700 processor is most likely consuming a bit more power than the T7500.

I have to wait until next Friday to buy this so I missed out the on 1459.99. The price is $1,578 shipped now, is that still a good deal?

Yeah, that's still better than most other places that sell it.

Yeah, but if you add it to the cart then you get the $40 instant rebate and that's still cheaper than anywhere else...

Ken at GenTech did a Crysis test on Asus F3SA-A1 with the exact same settings as he did his Crysis test on the G1S-A1, he got about the same framerates! Definitely an option if you wanna go cheaper $1289 with free 2gb ram upgrade. :)

btw - im not sure if you guys have seen this already:

    http://laptopsinc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=G1S-A1&Category_Code=ASUSG

looks like the gis-a1 is 1499 there (portable one) - hmm - its only $110 more than the f3sa-a1 - i mean, if im already spending that much...

youll all have to forgive me - i know NOTHING about asus notebooks - so this is all new to me - but it seems like the g1s-a1 is pretty incredible, right? is that pretty much one of the "standards" in the gaming community? i dont really game all that often - but its nice to be able to when you want to...

If the F3SA is still not as much as you want to pay, you may consider F3KA...
