Wow, the reviewers say its actually a 9800gt and a 7200rpm HD, not bad at all. I call this a deal. :D

Not GT. GS. GS. GS. GS.

The programs used were not updated with the GS information when the laptop first came out, leading to it showing up as a GT.

It is in fact a "GS" and NOT a "GT" or "GTS". They are different. For the price I think you really get a heck of a package. Glad to be of assistance guys. Good luck with your purchases and keep us posted. :D

The GS is in fact a down-clocked GTS.
(so 64 shaders, not 96 of the 9800m GT)

The GS runs at 530 core, 1325 shader, 799 mem
The GTS runs at 600 core, 1500 shader, 800 mem

Thus the GPU is fantastic at that price point.

The only downside I have found in mine is the smaller resolution 1366x768 (720p) screen... which really isn't a flaw, its a sacrifice they made to get the price down. Honestly, it hasn't bothered me at all.

I wish ASUS didn't have that warranty void sticker on the CPU. I would be all over it.

Is the Asus G50vt series the one that Asus put in the overclocking software to bump the clock on the processors? I can't remember...

Incredible deal. The only thing absolutely terrible with this notebook is the resolution but you can live with it if it's this cheap.
