Best Buy : Gateway M-6862 for $675

Best Buy has the gateway m-6862 w/ the specs in my sig for $675. On their website it lists it as being on sale for $699. I bought it for $750 and went in today to get a price adjustment, and when doing so, it actually rang up $675. So YMMV, but that's a FANTASTIC deal on a laptop w/ this good of a dedicated video card and 4gb ram

 

Very nice find. I'm gonna head to BB tomorrow and see if they have the deal here too.

 

Yea I've been very pleased w/ the performance so far for $750 let alone $675. My unoptimized 3Dmark06 score is above 3600. Can play Devil May Cry 4 at at least around 30fps on high settings at 1280x800 resolution. Good stuff!

At $675, it will not disappoint.
Only reason I didn't keep mine, is I moved up to the P-6860FX.

I was quite happy with it's price-performance, especially in the 15.4" package.
That is the one thing I miss about it - this 6860FX is HUGE!

I never got the 6864fx. I don't like the fx styling at all, and preferred the extra 50gb of storage over the faster HDD, so I actually prefer the 6862

Just curious has anyone else had luck finding this for $675 at their best buys? I see it's still listed as 699 on their website, but it automatically rescanned as $674.99 when i got my price adjustment

 

No joke, I just got this for $599! I went in, asking them to check the price because the model/price wasn't on display. He checked the website first ($699) and then checked their system... $599! I peeked at the screen and the $599 price was dated 9/4.

Slayer, maybe you should go back for another adjustment!

I went to my local Best Buy and they didn't have any, but they had one in another close city that they could have sent to the local store. I wasn't sure I wanted to buy it sight unseen and I'd have to pay for it before it arrived. And they said it was $699, not $675 or $599. Anyone think I'd have luck paying $699 up front and getting some cash back when it arrived?

 

I think this is definately a store-by-store basis markdown YMMV as they're closing out this laptop. Online the "official" price is 699. My store has it for 675. Someone else's store has it for $599.

I'd say there may be a good chance of the price going lower in the next 14 days for a price drop

Ok I just called one of my local best buys and they put the SKU in their system and it came up as $599!!!

I'm gonna swing by after work to get a 2nd price adjustment! Will I have a problem since I just got a $75 adjustment 2 days ago? I'm still within the 14 day window so I think I should be fine. Never says you're only limited to 1 adjustment

 

You should be fine. I asked when I bought my TV and they said I could come back as many times as I wanted.

Using the trickery coupon for $100 off (highspeed net and cancel later), I got mine for $500.

I sat around thinking, and might go buy another (for work).

Although this Acer here will be $399 on Sunday, and therefore $300 with the coupon I have.

 

I called my local Best Buy with the SKU on the website and it came up as $599! Laptop for me!

 

This truly is an excellent deal, anyone looking for a solid value gaming notebook should pick up one of these. I have seen this notebook in person and it has decent quality and a good screen.

 

got my 2nd price adjustment and used the money to buy a 360 game and drinks last nite! woo hoo!

 

I think I'm going to open the box up, which forces me to keep the unit. Once I do, the first thing I am going to do is partition the drive, and toss XP 32bit on it, since I have some apps that do not run in 64bit.

PM me if you need the XP drivers. I'm sure I can find them all (maybe not the webcam, but all others shouldn't be an issue).

How is the backlight bleed on these?

I picked up the M-6881 and it has bleed on the bottom which is very noticeable watching movies full screen.

 

I previously posted that I called my local Best Buy and they told me it was $599. When I arrived they said it was a misquote? It turned out to be $685. It will arrive from another store on Monday. I will ask them to check the price when it arrives... and every day after until I hear the words "five ninety nine."

 

It seems if you have BB look up the model - they will tell you a price of 675(or w/e it is listed at the store). If they look up SKU they will give you 599. Atleast that is what happened to me.

Yea i've seen this notebook in person and would recommend it to anyone. I would be buying it right now if it weren't for the fact I don't have a car and likely couldn't sneak it back over the border.

This is just less than half the price of my 860TU order.

Ask to talk to a manager. Explain to him that you wanted to buy this when it was on sale for $599 but could get not to the store in time and would like to buy it for that price.

they had like 4 of these lappy's at $599 at a BB near me. There was a sign clearly marking it at $599 clearance. When I went in to ask a salesperson about the one he had with him, he said that he was purchasing that one and that 3 were left. That made me laugh.

Never the less, I purchase one out the door at that price plus tax.

I picked up my laptop yesterday that I paid $685 for, and regardless of any future price matches I think it's a good deal. I'll probably write a bit more about it later, but it seems like a great laptop for the price.

 

Definately call your local best buys (if you have more then 1 nearby don't assume they have it all at the same price, cuz they dont) over the next 14 days with a SKU number and say you just want a price check. Odds are you'll find at least 1 store that'll have it at 599 over the next 14 days
