Besides notebookreview.com, which is great, are there any other deal sites that are ESPECIALLY good for laptops?

    Thanks, Richard

Not that we're aware of, which is why we got this site running. That is in a general sense though...there are a number of niche sites that are great. What brand are you looking for more info on?

Well, Im open as to brand. I'm not a gamer, but would like to watch the occasional DVD and have the potential for videoconferencing. At the moment I have a hand me down inspiron 3500, but would like a 15in screen and a dvd burner. After a lot of poking around on the internet I have become a little paranoid about getting a machine with bad pixels. I've had 3 laptops, all without bad pixels, so I am wondering if I am unnecassarily worried. I would probably be disappointed if I did get stuck with a screen with even one bad pixel, so I am leaning towards getting something from Best Buy or the like and inspecting it at the time of purchase. I mainly do browsing and office work on my laptop, and am noticing the screen being harder to read if the laptop is in the middle of my desk because I am working on an outboard keyboard. I mention this because I am beginning to understand that a higher resolution screen may be undesirable if one wants to rely on reading text easily. However, really understanding all the ramifications regarding the many tyoes of screens is a bit of a task. Then there is the precessor issue. I'm kind of lost here as there are so many and, it would seem, so many ways of executing a design. I suppose the first thing I would like is a quiet machine, and then sufficient speed to open pdf files with snap, etc. Re the pixel issue, Overam has a no bad pixels warranty for $60 or so, which is attractive. However, I don't know the company. My associates have had Toshibas, which seem to be a reasonable enough product. An IBM passed through my hands once, and I was impressed with it, althoough it was more of a gut feeling than anything else. I've pretty much read most of the posts here, and am just letting it all digest for a bit while I keep an eye out for sales. Budget is $1400 max. Anyway, thanks for reading my ramblings. Any advise is welcome. Richard

...searching for laptop deal sites... this one was good for me:

    http://www.tagscan.com/Notebook-special-offers.html

:buyIBM: there are lots of other sites that also list some, but not exlusively laptops. if you want dell coupons, search the web because they are everywhere and dell seems to have new deals every week for $750 or 40% off, etc.
