Hello, So im looking to buy a laptop for 1700 dollars. Im a college student and I CAD alot, also I like making youtube videos from time to time, and ofcourse Im a hardcore gamer. I play the witcher 3, total war warhammer, gta 5, black desert, star citizen and swtor. But I am really looking foward on getting the best laptop I possibly can with that budget.

My laptop right now is a clevo with this specs: i7 770m, i7 3rd generation, and 12gb ram. Its starting to age. I cant even run the witcher at mid high with 30 plus fps.

On amazon I was about to get the deal of my life. Pro star was selling a laptop with this specs:
    Clevo p650hs g 15.6 inch
    I7 7820hk
    gtx 1070
    16gb ram
    256gb nvme ssd
    1tb hdd
    120hz 5ms screen

I asked them if they could price match at their website and they did. They even gave me a student discount, but the offer ended that same day and they couldnt hold the offer for too much. I wasnt able to complete it :(. They were also throwing in a backpack and I was going to end up paying 1760 dollars.

If someone knows where I could get the best student discount please let me know.
Eurocom gives a 10% discount to students but they are very expensive compared to the competence.
The 4k screen is cheaper there tho for the clevo I mentioned

I was able to get a Tornado F5 for $1320 with the 10% discount for students from Eurocom. I bought it without memory, HD, and ram. I bought all of those parts myself or already had some parts like the HD. My came with the i7 6700. The wifi was some Realtek one so i got a intel 8260 off ebay for $13, shipped from China, sold the realtek for $8 on ebay.
If you know how to add parts yourself you can save some money. I picked up memory, ddr4, from Craigslist for $20, 8gb of 2400mhz memory. Picked up a i7 6700k for $240 from CL and later sold it for $300 when the i7 7700k came out.

Well not really. The end August/September school starts and so does the deals. Maybe by then you will maybe able to save up some more $$$ and even get a better system . Never buy it in the off season.

Given OP titled this thread as "Best student discount", and is also asking for deals (instead of what to buy now), it seems OP is willing to wait and doesn't need a system now.

Also, there's no need to be hostile in a comment.

Perhaps he wishes to game over the summer... when he has the most time to do so. That's what I would assume, there are indeed deals during the "off season" as you guys call it...

I recently purchased a used fangbook 4 xtreme, which is the MSI 16l13... and it's a phenomenal machine. I would go with Eurocom though, as cyberpowerpc can have some "problems" when it comes to customer service.

    Eurocom:
    http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(2,384,0)ec

I would configure it such that it's an i5 7600k (which subtracts 93 from the price, for a similar score in games). One thing to note, is the i5 7600k is worlds better than your BGA i7 7820hk. Leave the RAM at 8GB, and purchase a stick on your own... to make it 16GB. The +8GB they offer for $163 is ridiculous...

If you go with the 60hz screen, you will be at (after student discounts) $1,417 with an i5 7600k and a 1070 GPU ^^

If you wanted a 120hz screen, go for it.. if you want the i7 7700k go for it.
