Lucky son! -
Wow, thats a lucky son. I'm sure you son is going to have a great x-mas, and nice savings too!
Also, whats the scoop on the Forum linked in your sig? Looks lke a great forum, but looks very new. Can you give is more information on it? I'm definately interested in it. -
I wish I had a dad like you lol.
Hes gonna be a very happy son on christmas day. -
Thanks guys. He has no idea that he would be getting a laptop for X-mas, let alone a M17x. He is doing really well in school this year, a continuation from improving his grades last year. It's an early college gift too...
-
wow! great deal!
-
You definately need to keep us updated. I want to know how he reacted to getting the system!
-
Congrats
if you have not already, get the extended warranty -
I'm at checkout now
and don't have the same $$ off except for the $375. Something you can share maybe?
Hmm, bumped the price past $3099 and it gave me a nice 15% off as well, which I noticed is more than what you got on yours. Maybe try and get this instead of the 16%? The 15% off is the normal sale price however but now it's added with the free video upgrade. A bit too much $$$ for me at this time ; ; -

Reminds me of when I bought mine one time I had two discounts in my cart, decided to call the next day and see if I could get a better deal. Not only could they not get me a better deal, but I lost one of the two discounts. No matter how I tried I could not get both in my cart at the same time, only one or the other. I used a known "trick" the first time, but it would never work again no matter how many ways I tried, even on different PC's. Oh well it was only 3% (about $60).

Gosh one negative remark about Crossfire and it's censored? I see nothing wrong with warning people about a poorly implemented GPU. I paid extra for Crossfire which I cannot use without problems and Dell has no solution for.
-
I am currently working with Alienware rep on chat, but please PM me how you stacked all the discounts as well. Thanks in advance!
-
I don't know what you did but I had to get exceptions to get all of the discounts you had. I spoke with 2 sales rep yesterday and both could do nothing. Today when I stumbled upon this thread and your post, I decided to give it another shot after giving up on the purchase yesterday. I sent the sales rep this link and she was able to pull strings to mimick all of the discounts. She had me call some concierge of hers on Dell's end as she was an alienware rep and I completed the order with him. It was awesome. There were minor bumps here and there but we got through it all. I ended up saving 200 more than what I had yesterday which is 100 more than I was shooting for when I called the two sales rep. Anyway, I wanted to thank you so much for making this happen. But at the same time I hate you for having made me spend $2400!
I'm also aware of the R3 coming, and I'm usually the worst at waiting and waiting, but on the other end of this philosophy, I don't think I could have gotten a good deal on such a new product, especially not as good a deal as this. In addition, though this version still has flaws, I imagine it'll be much more mature than the R3 when it first comes out. And for that I saved 500-1000 vs the R3 and I get it sooner.
Any thoughts? To return or not to return? -
I'm glad you got a great deal, I would of jumped through hoops too if it wasn't working online. I'd keep it. It's a never ending cycle anyway. You get an R3, and we will all want the R4, and so on.
Buy it, use it, love it, and have fun with it. -
Plus, can't you get the 4 year Premium warranty and have a defective laptop replaced with a new model of similar specs if something happens and the R2 is phased out??
-
Are you suggesting I invest in a 4 year premium warranty? That's quite the hefty sum. Could someone please confirm this information? I imagine in four years the R2 will have phased out, but wouldn't they just find some other used one and give it to me. Sounds like a gamble, but I would't count it out. I'd like more info please.

Codes you'll need are here:
Dell Coupon Codes, Laptops, Accessories, Free Shipping for dell.com coupons - dealspl.us
Also, if you don't get win7 ultimate, you can make this even cheaper:
-
The rep I spoke with supposedly copied all of the discounts, and so far the savings improved, but I've yet to see the actual discounts. How come your 16% details was not censored?
-
Because I'm not a big baby?
-
Just noticed yesterday the free graphic upgrade while browsing for an Alienware. They are still pricey thou.

Hi everyone! (...and bump)
Sorry to bother you all. My first post here since I stumbled onto this website for some good laptop shopping info. I've been trying to purchase an m17x for the past few days, talked/haggled to 3 reps and couldn't get any of them to budgeI tried the codes on the above link to Dell coupons and couldn't get the bigger discounts to work...am I too late?
Can anyone PM how to go about this? Thanks! -
4 years out parts get rare and $$. These things wear out. If you want it to be "alive" for 4 years get a warranty that long. More than one person has come to the forums with a machine that is dead a few months after the warranty gave up, thinking a year or two put them in the clear as far as having several years use out of the machine.
I know the warranty is $$. And I know that budgets are strict these days. But shorting the warranty is only "ok" if you really are genuinely ok with the possibility of a dead machine when it runs out. -

The M17x arrived this past Sat.
