This looks good (I'm looking for a cheap 1TB external drive), except for the somewhat suspicious "Warranty: N/A" line...

    Hey Cin

I've never dealt with this PC Connection company, but the 1 year warranty is a manufacturer's warranty so unless these are refurbs (and legally they must divulge that they are refurbs and the packaging must say so), the original manufacturer's warranty should apply, unless the retailer is not an approved retailer (I have heard of that happening several times with Ebay "stores" for example.)

I don't really know that much about Buffalo HDs. I have tried to research them because Frys always has them on sale, but, aside from a few reviews, I cannot seem to find a great number of consumer reviews. Web site reviews are OK, but I like to hear from consumers as well, so I can get some idea of reliability, etc.

As far as desktop hard drives are concerned, one of my desktops is connected to several WD drives and my other desktop is connected to several Cavalry drives. I haven't yet had the courage to try my luck with Buffalo.

    :)

Great company. They make some of the best NAS devices around. USB HDDs are great and yes they have a one year warranty. PC Connection is listed as a reseller on their site so there's no issue with the manufacturer.

They're a big company, they sell at Dell.com CDW.com, etc. A USB drive is a USB drive is a USB drive (it's all WD, Seagate, Hitachi, etc. inside). At that price, it's a no brainer.

PC Connection is listed as one of their online dealers AND, the mail-in rebate form lists them and two other well known online shops as required purchased from dealers in order to get the 10 bucks back.

I also thought this drive had a TWO year warranty?? They must have recently amended that by product since all their products use to be two years.

Either way, this is a great deal and I just got done ordering one. :)

Buffalo is a good company, they make the best wireless stuff :p

After breaking several D-Link & Linksys Routers I got a buffalo and never looked back :p

Now this actual drive is there brand but the HDD on the inside is still going to be one of the main manufacturer drives I am sure (western digital, seagate, hitachi etc)
