I just received two separate mailings from Circuit City, which I would have easily overlooked. Fortunately, I did not overlook them, and found that each I(different mailings) had $15 off coupons with relatively few exclusions.
I know Circuit City is in bankruptcy, but these $15 off coupons are a good deal if applied to something that already has a pretty good discount.
For example, I was able to buy two more Toshiba 320GB portable drives (perfect size to carry on trips filled with movies). They were on sale this week for $119.99, which is the best price I have found on these particular drives in the recent past. I went to two different stores and applied the $15 coupon to each purchase, so I was able to score two of these drives (which I love) for $104.99, far below what these drives are available for anywhere else.

Retail is almost never a better deal.
You can for $120 get a 500gb instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148371
Then pick up a enclosure for like $20. No taxes and no ship.
Plus you have to count the gas cost to drive to the store & the time (time is money)
In addition the stand alone drive comes with a nice long warranty, while I find they never do when it comes to pre built enclosures.
If for some reason you would prefer a smaller size and like 320GB drives they have those too for $75 no tax, free ship: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822116096
Here is a good usb enclosure for like $12 w free ship
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817816001
The good thing about this again, cheaper, longer warranty, plus you can choose the interface & style of enclosure you need. Like I would get one that supports E-Sata.
So you in summary could have gotten the same thing for $75+12 = $87 with no tax, no gas, no time and a longer warrenty.
Just a heads up.
Thanks for the tip about the coupon, I will probably become trash all the same though -
I actually LOVE these Toshiba drives. I have like 10 of them. I travel A LOT and have been using them like crazy. I use one each for a backup on each of my laptops (5 total)...and the others I have been loading with my DVD collection. For me, it is definitely worth it.
You're a lot more advanced than I when it comes to hard drives. I'm willing to pay the extra, but still want a good deal. Not yet willing to go the "build my own" route yet.
There was no gas involved in the second Circuit City I went to.I was just down the street in Santa Monica using my 30 percent off coupon at the Gap for shirts that have already been marked down 50 percent. I just walked in to Circuit City, and out with a new Toshiba HD.
Maybe one day I will go the "build my own" route, but in the meantime, these Toshiba drives are SWEET. They fit well in the Case Logic cases I got for 9.99 (50 percent off), with room to spare for a USB cord and a couple of flash drives.
Thanks for the info. I know where to go, and who to go to, when I become a little more adventurous.
Right now,I am considering buying another 1TB drive...either a Cavalry...on sale, after rebates for 94.99 at Buy.com, or a Fantom Greendrive from Newegg.com for 119.99 or thereabouts.
Thanks again, buddy! -

No problem, its not advanced to build your own, its like 2 or 4 screws and a connection. Its a good place to get started in building PC's

Regarding newegg.com, I love 'em but here in the state of CA, they charge us tax.

lol, its about as hard as putting a poptart in the toaster, except you have to unscrew 2 screws first.
