    I think I saw something similar when I was last in Walmart getting my car's oil changed. I think it said it was some sort of alcohol based solvent inside (which is why it's supposed to be kept in an air-tight bag when not in use) and the dirt and dust is absorbed through some kind of osmosis or something.
