This deal has been around for a little while now at the OCZ Outlet. I'm surprised more people have not taken advantage. Perhaps they did not know, so here you go!
This is a smart way at a good budget gaming machine. The barebones are new and have a 1920*1200 display. Compare this to the refurbished Asus G50vt's or the Compal KHLB2 Barebones with the 1366 x 768 displays that will end up costing a similar amount of money.
A few downsides to consider:
- The machines are sold AS-IS, meaning that you'll have to be your own technician should anything go wrong. They are tested before shipping though.
- The motherboard supports up to a 800Mhz FSB processor.
- You have to install the components yourself. Not a big deal, do it once and you'll be wondering what all the fuss was about.
M570RU-U NB8E-SE (8700)
- WUXGA (1920 * 1200)
- Intel® PM965 Chipset + ICH8M (limited to 800Mhz FSB CPU's)
- DVD-RW (optional Blu-ray), Bluetooth, fingerprint reader,
- 8700M GT (~9600M GT)
- $369
M570RU-U
- WUXGA (1920 * 1200)
- Intel® PM965 Chipset + ICH8M (limited to 800Mhz FSB CPU's)
- DVD-RW (optional Blu-ray), Bluetooth, fingerprint reader,
- 8800M GTX (~9800M GT)
- $549
To get either machine up and running in the most cost effective way without bottlenecking the system, grab these components:
- A new Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T7100 ( Socket P, 800Mhz FSB Maximum) - $120 | (A used T9300, T7800, T8300, T7700 are good in price/performance)
- 2GB of DDR2-667. - $30
- 320GB 7200RPM HDD . - $58
- 4965AGN WIFI Card. - $15
- Thermal compound - $cheap
In this little hypothetical, that's $593 for the 1920*1200| 8700M GT machine or $773 for the 1920*1200 | 8800M GTX machine with all new parts. You can find the T7100 used for as little as $50 but, please people, don't cheap out on the hard drive & memory (don't buy used HDD's and RAM to put in a new barebones).
No I do not work for the OCZ outlet.![]()
I think these are good deals considering these machines have two critical components (WUXGA, and the 8800M GTX in particular) at respectable prices. Also consider the refurbished Asus G71GX-RX05, G51-R505, G50vt-X5 or Gateway P-7805U (or Gateway P-7811 FX) if you're looking for a budget gaming machine.

Don't forget Bing Cashback too.

I'd rep ya if it let me. nice find.

I just got one. Charging the battery now. Also it comes with a standard case. Shipping from this seller will be slow. When it is give them a hassle.
Also no warranty AT ALL. Go here. http://www.safeware.com For Insurance.

Got a T7500 for <80USD. Remember you need a "Socket P"

What processor you want?

Some vendors wrongly call this a Socket 478. It is the same physical interface, but not electronically compatible. Use the sSpec number to make sure it is a Socket P CPU.

Is one option.
An aside http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=312949 about 7200.4 vs 7200.3
I was looking for the very best deal. For less than 500$ I got a rocking Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz, 160GB 7200 HD, a dedicated 512MB Graphics card, 17" 1920x1200 laptop. I don't think you can beat it.
Also new ebay accounts usually get a 10% off one PayPal purchase coupon. -
I'd go for a T8100 over the T7500 for around the same price used.
-
T7500 had more cashe and GHz. But help yourself.
-
Note, the test I speak of was run on this site. You can make a search for it if you like. -
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html
ranked the T7500 47th VS 54 for the t8100.
Also it is a 100MHz difference and 4MB vs 3MB. And they are both 35W, so same heat/power.
Also I cannot find a t8100 for 78USD shipped. Most are around 130.
So I'd take that bet. And give you odds.
Search found this. Ok off topic debate now can go to other thread.

Notebookcheck? In all honesty, it's not the most reliable place for rankings. Note that the same page ranks the X7900 (mobile) over the Q6600 (desktop), even though the scores are higher for the Q6600. Notebookcheck is useful for factual technical information, but less so on rankings. Just look at their GPU rankings for example.
Try this for size.

Note 374 samples.
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+T7500+@+2.20GHz
Note 753 samples.
Or if you like rankings
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
243(T8100) vs 263(T7500).
Good catch though, I totally typo'd with Mhz for cache, instead of MB.
As for price, I was looking at the past recent auctions, quite a few were in the 70s-80s, however, most ES, but some OEMs. Depends on how much you want to wait.
You're wrong about the TDP and temperature connection in this case. It's not the TDP that gives it cooler temps, it's the size of the manufacturing process, 45nm vs 65nm.
This argument (T8100 vs T7500) has been rehashed multiple times, on this site and others. If price difference is neglible, there's no reason to go for the T7500. If price is an issue, the T7500 is a great in and out of itself. -
Again, this is off topic. I did link the other thread. Discuss it there, or make a new thread if you want.
-
Another point, that thread's closed. Threads that have no posts for over 6 months are closed.
If you're really interested, go through the other threads that compare the two. You will find that there are those who say the T7500 is faster, but most would say T8100 is marginally faster or about equal, which has been my point the whole time.
The difference in cache is really quite marginal for most programs, and the 0.1 Ghz clockspeed is negated by the fact that clock for clock, the Penryns are faster than their Merom counterparts. I.e why my old T9300 would outpace the T7800, even though it was slower by 0.1 Ghz as well. Of course, the T9300 also has more cache, but that doesn't really help particularly much.
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+T7800+@+2.60GHz
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+T9300+@+2.50GHz
Off-topic? Perhaps a tad, but we are talking about CPU upgrades for the machine here, aren't we?
My main point is, if you can find the T8100 for about the same price as the T7500, by all means, go for the T8100. If you can't, T7500 is a great chip as well. -

Good deal, a friend of mine has a Gateway 6860FX and would love to upgrade to this. I'll have to see how much people are willing to pay for his laptop on craigslist. Thanks!
-
The equivalent or similar clocked Penryn has a bit better performance while also running 10C cooler under full load. (which is what you observed/said as well). -
-
Thanks for the heads up! I ordered one as a backup even though I don't really need one. For that price I couldn't resist.
-
I looked into these a while back, but decided not to go with him since he also charges tax.

Lol, look at the last post in this thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=204160&page=4
It is by far the yummiest deal out there -
-
with the screen resolution those computers have and the overheating problems most ASUS users are dealing with, even at that price point these are better systems.
-
Hmm, after the relist of the item, the shipping cost went up. In Western Europe is 193$ and in the East is 438$.

-
You know someone to do that. I'll be listing built systems with x7800, 8800m gtx in a few days.

They are up for sale now. I can not paste a link since it is prohibited by NBR rules.
