This laptop normally prices around 320-349 at Bestbuy or online, so it's an ok deal. You get what you pay for. ;) Actually with the one I saw, there was a Celeron. I don't know if that's any better than Sempron or not.

I was wondering about the whole Celeron vs. Sempron thing for my stepmom, who's interested in this lappy. Those two seem to be the red headed stepchildren of AMD and Intel, as they are rarely talked about, even here. :p

Still for the price of a netbook, your getting a full size laptop that's good for the basics like internet, dvd watching, etc. I can really see the appeal here, even with the netbook market we have now.

Yeah Booboo, thats certainly true. Im sure the difference between the two is negligible, so maybe have your Mom get this deal? :)

My twins start college in the fall and need notebooks. Is this deal the best value out there? Money is a factor, but a bad product at a good price is still a bad deal. Any thoughts?

Depends on what your kids do TBH. If they just use their computers now for web surfing, watching movies, managing photos, this is a good option esp. if your on a budget.

However, if they perform more advanced tasks like play games (not those web browser flash games either-this system can handle those fine ;)) edit video, or do heavy multitasking, they might be better suited for another notebook.

If your kids are going into specialized programs like graphics design or engineering, they'll probably need a system with a lot more horsepower.

The best way to tell is to fill out a New Thread with your answers to NBR's FAQ in the What Notebook Should I Buy section of the forums. Fill this out together with your kids so you'll get a better idea of what they currently use their computer for, and what they might use it for in the future. :)
