I just picked up a Compaq Presario CQ60-420US at Staples yesterday for $320 after pricematching to their website price (they should pricematch to $350) minus a $30 Staples Easy Rebate.

Just go to the following link, print it up, and take it in and request a price match to their online price. There's a possibility you could get this pricematched to $320 with a final price of $290 after rebate, but don't count on it.

There's also a possibility you will get a manager that won't pricematch. Ask for his name, the reason why he won't pricematch, and the number to corporate customer relations.

    Basic specs below:
    15.6" 1366x768 Brightview LCD
    Intel T4200 @ 2GHz
    3GB RAM
    250GB 5400RPM HDD
    802.11b/g
    5-in-1 Card Reader
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (free upgrade to Windows 7)
    8x DL DVD+/-RW w/Lightscribe

    Quick review:
This is a higher-end-budget laptop. It's big, it's somewhat heavy, the pixel density is quite low, the screen is bright and colorful (glossy), but poor viewing angles. The finish is standard HP imprint which seems to hold up well to abuse, but not so well to fingerprints (matte black bottom, keyboard, bezel around keyboard, and bezel around screen; shiny silver palm rest, touchpad; shiny black lid). The Pentium Dual Core T4200 is very good for its class, essentially it's a Core 2 Duo T6400 with 1MB L2 cache instead of 2MB. 3GB of RAM is plenty for basic use, and a 250GB hard drive is a nice upgrade from the entry level 160GB. It's got a card reader and DVD burner with Lightscribe. No webcam. No HDMI. Overall, a great budget laptop at an affordable price, missing a few features of higher end laptops, but adding a few features that budget laptops don't usually enjoy.

Note: You must ask for a pricematch, otherwise you pay retail price, which is about $530.
