    Hi,

I found a deal at Dell Canada for a laptop that basically contains everything I need - the Inspiron 6400 ($275 savings) for $1099. The discount for it lasts until June 8. I'm just wondering if I should take the deal or not... I'm torn between wondering if the next deal will be even better, of if I'll have to manually customize the laptop in the next deal, increasing the buying price... Will I be kicking myself for letting a good laptop deal with all my specs pass on by, or does Dell consistantly have deals like this one on their products??

    Thanks,

its hard to say. ive noticed that they have a new deal pretty much every week. this week its free ram, next week its free screen upgrade....so find the dealyou are comfortable with, when i got mine i paid way more than what i could get for it now. you will never get the best deal..because theyre will always be price drops down the road.

    Hey,

Thanks for the response. OK, this might be a stupid question, but...when you said next week, the deal's a free screen upgrade, was that just an example, or is that true? If it is true, how do you find out what the future discounts will be??

    Thanks again,

My suggestion, if you are not in a rush to get your notebook, is to wait for the deals that feature processor speed or video cards, as they are non-upgradable. Deals on RAM and HDs are good, but some people like to purchase with 512mb and upgrade (cheaper) later. Just something to think about.

I'm in a similar situation as you as well. Planning on getting a 640m for university. Maybe there's a pattern of some sort with the dell discounts? I'm not sure, but would be interested in knowing.

OK, maybe there is a method to Dell's madness. The deals for the last 2 weeks (for Inspiron 6400 at least) have been a 128 Mb video card & screen upgrade, and a 1 Gb SDRAM upgrade. Now, these upgrades seem to be standard for the Inspiron - they're no longer an upgrade, but are default settings, at the same price of $1099 as it was 2 weeks ago! So essentially, I guess you get more and more for your money... Perhaps I should wait a few more weeks and see what other juicy tidbits they'll introduce...

I plan on waiting for another month or 2 if I can lol. Big if ofcourse. Prices drop alot in 2 months for computers.
