I just ordered an Inspiron 1705 with Core 2 Duo 7200 2ghz, Geforce 7900 GS, 2gb 667mhz ram, wuxga, 120gb 5400rpm, 3 year waranty, travel bag and some other stuff for $2,007 w/o tax. I did some serious ass searching for about 2 weeks on this forum and manufacturer websites and came to the conclusion that this system is a steal!

Not bad. With EPP you can get it down even lower, if you're eligible...... configured something similar to what you described, and with an additional 12% discount it came out to $1783 before tax.

does EPP work with dell outlet?

Hope you'll enjoy the system but you can buy 2gig memory from newegg for almost the same price you pay dell to upgrade from 1gig to 2gig and e-bay the gig that comes with the system and save even more

If you hadn't missed the CompUSA "Moonlight Madness" sale, you would have bought a system with T7200, 2GB RAM, 7900 GS, 200 GB HDD @ 4200 rpm, DVD+/- RW, Wireless, Bluetooth, etc. for $1,600 w/0 tax.
That system is now $2,000 w/0 tax. (Same as the Dell).
If I were to pick between the E1705 and the Toshiba P107-9722 (or something like that. I get confused between the serial numbers), I would go for the Toshiba, as it iS THE LIGHTEST 17" LAPTOP. ( at 7.1 lbs)
Also, you can sell the 200 GB HDD @ 4200 rpm on EBAY and buy a 100 GB 7200 RPM HDD.
That would be a dream system for that price, in my opinion. -
That's essentially what I did HEARTBREAKER...
Although I'm still undecided on keeping it or not. I did try and post a for-sale, but no takers yet (probably because $100 off the retail price isn't enough incentive, even though it is unopened... perhaps because Circuit City and Amazon have $150 MIR's).
I don't think I'd feel bad though about getting the E1705. From what I hear, the E1705 is supposed to have better build quality than the P105. Aside from that, his $2000 purchase price also included that 3-year warranty, which you'd still have to pay for even with a $1600 P105. And from what I hear, Toshiba's warranty service sounds like it might be kind of nightmarish compared to Dell's..... although hopefully it isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. -
I don't think it does
Core 2 Duo 7200, Geforce 7900 GS etc... Dell for $2000
