8gb is sweet if you do alot of CAD and multitasking with internet explorer, photoshop...you know the whole works

But even with 64 bit you cant utilize all 8 gb. I guess its limited to 6.x gb of ram. Also in few months, the price of 8 gb gonna drop around 100$ as I have a bad experience while buying my 4gb. I paid 245$ and after 2 months I can buy it in 85$.

As far as I know 64 bit can certainly use 8GB. Heck the precision M6400 comes with 16GB of ram...

It's probably the computer itself that only supports 6GB. A updated bios might support 8GB. 64x should support up to 32GB if I recall right.

In theory, 64-bit can support a heck of a lot more than 32GB... it's in the order of 16+ million TB of memory... you can work it out by doing a little math, 2 to the power of 64 div (1024 B/kB x 1024 kB/MB x 1024 MB/GB x 1024 GB/TB... x 1024 TB/PB x 1024 PB/EB) --> 16 exabytes

I remember reading somewhere though Vista 64bit could support more than 32GB, so I seemed like a safe guess.
