I just got an HP dv3 and I went to purchase BitDefender cause I heard that was the current antivirus app of the choice…but the same day I got it (the notebook) BitDefender came out with its 2010 version.

Naturally I want to get the new one cause it doesn't make sense to buy the old one and then upgrade (or does it?). But I'd like to get some kind of online coupon first (I'm planning on the 1 PC for 3 years option at 89.95), but how long does it usually take for brand-new software to be discounted? (I'm comfortable using the dv3 on a home wireless network for the time being, but within a week I'll be travelling and I'm gun-shy of using it elsewhere without antivirus protection).

    Any advice appreciated.
