And here I was just about to claim that prices were asymptotically approaching $300! I think this thread should just track the best current offer on this SSD. Cin', can you change the title to
and just keep updating the first post with the best deals?

Haha..I took that pic of Dweezil last night when I was sitting in my chair relaxing.

He was miffed at me cuz I refused to feed him again (I fed him in the morning).

So I looked up and found him stalking me behind my bag on the floor doing the I'm staring at you and you can't see me Dweezil game. He thinks he intimidates me.... lol.

Anyways thanks Mods for changing the title and I wonder who will go lower in price next?

sold out. these deals come and go so fast if you happen to come across one you're best to buy one because you'll likely at least get your money back if you decide you don't want it.

$248 on Amazon, that breaks the $1/gig barrier a lot of us buy at. I just don't have a use for another 256gb drive right now :p

I am in the same boat. I don't need a 256gb drive right now, otherwise I would totally buy it. This is the best deal on this size drive I have ever seen. (although they did have WD 250gb SSDs for $200 once, but those were lame drives and they sold out instantly).

I have one of those WD drives (for $200) and they are actually pretty darn good. The CrystalDiskMark "QD32" portion is lacking compared with Crucial M4. But queue depth is good for heavy multitasking. I considered the Crucial M4 but after seeing these results, I think I'll stick with my WD.

Isn't that the 128GB variant on the MH55 chipset?

Here you go for M4 256gb: Crucial m4 256GB SSD Review > Benchmarks: CrystalDiskMark 3.0 - TechSpot Reviews

Much better, but just about any competent SSD is an upgrade over mechanical. If I had your WD, it wouldn't be worth the upgrade even with the much better performance of the M4 really.

I always said when it went to less than $1/GB, I'd order one to upgrade my aging 160GB Intel SSD, so I pulled the trigger from Amazon since even with my aversion to data glut on my boot drive, it is down to 20GB free.

The WD drive is fine, my main gripe is that I didn't get one :( Still it doesn't even max out the Sata2 interface. You are correct thought that it is better than any hdd, especially at the price you paid.

Looks like they dumped their remaining stock to tiger direct since a few days ago they were being sold and shipped from amazon but now sold and shipped via tiger. Either way good for buyers.

At that price, it's a "don't think, just click" buy.

I don't have an immediate need for that SSD, and I'm currently unemployed. But dammit.

Luckily I was good with managing my money so it's not like it's a case of SSD or rent (or food), haha.

Newegg also has the transfer kit version of the 256Gb (CT256M4SSD2 CCA) for 220$~ from ~255$ with promo code CRUSSD54.

I wish they were this cheap in EU.

That's my preferred drive at my goal price...just too soon. Now I'll be stuck waiting until they match or beat this price later since there's no way I'd pay over $199 for it now!

Prices keep fluctuation on Amazon - $199 last night, $229 this morning when i checked, back to $199 an hour later, i went to the bank deposited cash and now it's $229 again. We'll see if it goes back to 199, then i'll grab one for sure.
