Gr8 Deal Cin' gotta go for it, may just use it for fast external storage ;)
Unreal25, I recently had a mechanical hard drive fail on me an lost quite a few photos. Now I use Dropbox free version,
I was 1/2 kidding, Once I upgrade to a real gaming machine (SAGER) I will be installing the SSD in it.

Using 2.5" SSD for "external storage"... now I've heard everything.

You are aware that for that money you can get few TB in mechanical drivers right...

No... really? It's very fast with hard drives too, especially when it comes to transferring large files. The whole point of SSDs is their fast access time -- a feature that would be unused if they're used for storage. On top of that, (decent) mechanical hard drives are more secure in that even if you get bad sectors, you don't loose all of your data. With an SSD, you are pretty much screwed in terms of data recovery. The other "drawback" is that for that money you can get to about 10x more ~5TB of storage (or less if one prefers to make it more secure in RAID).

Already bought the same drive for $350 on eBay. Just as well, though, since Newegg charges tax in CA, so this deal isn't as good for me :(

Of course, the package was sent signature required, and I was at work when they tried to deliver it on Friday, so now I can't actually have it until tomorrow *sadface*

Be careful with these drives, lot's of DOA's. Very alarming, especially after a big success with the 256GB version. I'd do more research before jumping on it. But the deal is indeed very tempting.

Same 3years , just don't need to pay for shipping etc , in case any back and forth returning drives. I'm tired to deal with Crucial warranty itself , those shipping cost able to get me new SSD.

I saw that too, but compared to those from Amazon and the total number of drives sold, a handful of complaints isn't bothering me considering Crucial's track record and customer service.

This is anecdotal so take it as you wish but I've employed at least a dozen SSDs in various desktop and laptop systems for myself and others, dating back to the original OCZ Vertex. The M4 has, by far, been the most reliable of the lot. Actually, the only failures I've seen have been with Sandforce drives. I have the utmost confidence in Crucial.
