isn't the 512GB only 50 bucks off normal retail price? really want to get a 512GB but i want it for like 300 bucks. amazon card gets 3% off so it is like 340 bucks right now....you think I should get my wife a amazon card for another 30 bucks off so i get it for 310?

you think the 512 will hit 300 bucks any time soon? i'll wait but if it'll take a year might as well buy it

Fantastic deal. Finally pulled the trigger and got a 256. Like HFaithful, I'd rather the 512, but a 256 will keep me happy until the 512's start showing up for 300. Or at least $330 so they're in line with what you can get a 256 for in terms of cost/gb.

correct but you get more space and as far as i know people tend to learn away from the sandforce for several reasons

Also if the extra speed even noticeable in real world performance?

Damnit my wife kept saying that to me and I thought she meant something COMPLETELY different. I should have just built her a raid array!

I'd buy the Crucial-Micron anytime even if the price is higher (but doesn't seem like it because i catch them on sale).
(Of course i'm biased ... i have 5 Crucial SSDs (all good, not a problem) and the 6th one is on the way here for another system in the house.)

I will go with 830 too even if there will be $30-50 difference on 512GB

Same here. I'd say the 830 and yes I'm biased. But a 512GB M4 at this price is hard to resist nonetheless.

My main issue with the Samsung 830 512GB is that I never see it below $500. The 256 is competitive price wise, and maybe I'm just not catching the 512s on sale, but for the premium you pay for the 512, I'd say the M4 is a much better deal even if it is a bit slower. At least until we see price drops on the Samsung 830, I don't think there's much competition at 512.

Fwiw, I'd definitely prefer the Samsung over the Crucial as well. And at 256 and 128 that's a much easier choice. Once the price difference jumps to $150+ though, the cost:benefit ratio just isn't there.

But it's an OCZ. I'd only use that if they gave it to me for free, even then I'd be hesitant to use it.
