isn't the 512GB only 50 bucks off normal retail price? really want to get a 512GB but i want it for like 300 bucks. amazon card gets 3% off so it is like 340 bucks right now....you think I should get my wife a amazon card for another 30 bucks off so i get it for 310?
you think the 512 will hit 300 bucks any time soon? i'll wait but if it'll take a year might as well buy it -
Fantastic deal. Finally pulled the trigger and got a 256. Like HFaithful, I'd rather the 512, but a 256 will keep me happy until the 512's start showing up for 300. Or at least $330 so they're in line with what you can get a 256 for in terms of cost/gb.

I just bought the sandisk extreme 240gb yesterday...this is 10 bux more.. but according to reviews the sandisk is quite a bit faster even without the newer firmware...
-
HopelesslyFaithful Notebook Virtuoso
correct but you get more space and as far as i know people tend to learn away from the sandforce for several reasons
Also if the extra speed even noticeable in real world performance? -
I'm tempted to buy a 128GB, always seem to find a place for these things, lol.

128GB? Hell, go big or go home! 512GB.

Was waiting for the 830's to drop but couldn't pass this deal up.

Crucial M4 vs Samsung 830 if price is the same?
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
I would go with the 830 at the same price
-
(Of course i'm biased ... i have 5 Crucial SSDs (all good, not a problem) and the 6th one is on the way here for another system in the house.) -
I will go with 830 too even if there will be $30-50 difference on 512GB
-

Same here. I'd say the 830 and yes I'm biased. But a 512GB M4 at this price is hard to resist nonetheless.
-
Fwiw, I'd definitely prefer the Samsung over the Crucial as well. And at 256 and 128 that's a much easier choice. Once the price difference jumps to $150+ though, the cost:benefit ratio just isn't there. -
512gb still too expensive. agility 4 512gb was on sale for just 285$ a few days ago.
-
But it's an OCZ. I'd only use that if they gave it to me for free, even then I'd be hesitant to use it.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just bump this one. Buy.com has the 256 GB M4 for $160 shipped, and if you're a first-time customer you can get a coupon for an additional $10 off.
Buy.com - Crucial M4 256GB 2.5" SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD) -
And like saturnotaku, worth reporting that Tiger Direct has it as well for the same price until 9/19.
Crucial M4 256GB 2.5" SATA III SSD
And they have the Crucial M4 512gb for $350 if you prefer. -
If you guys buy from Tiger Direct there's a 5% cashback when using a Discover card if you have this card. (Must hot-jump from your Discover website/account to to the Tiger Direct website to get this special cashback, ie. it's a special procedure... my $350 512GB became $332.50 last June
