I've been using this NAS for a couple of months now, and I have to say it's a great device. Out of the box it functions perfectly as a network storage device (hard drives not included, of course; I have two 2TB WD Greens in mine) and it has added functionality as a downloader, FTP server, P2P client, and a host of other features.

What really makes it a fun machine to use is its ability to be "hacked" with various Linux-based programs (namely Fonz fun Plug). You get more P2P clients, automated downloaders (it can decode and automate downloads from places like Megaupload and Rapidshare, for instance), and lots of other things I don't even know how to use yet on account of my Linux illiteracy.

The only real complaint is that it gets a bit noisy because of the fan, but hey, at least you're not overheating.

    Normally this costs $119.99

But on TigerDirect it's bumped down to $89.99, and if you take the time and effort to deal with a mail-in rebate, it's a mere $69.99.

    Deal's good until 9-30-10.
