I’m buying a Dell Latitude D630 notebook and trying to save as much money as possible. Dell is currently running a $299 discount on the D630 – but this discount expires tonight (Wednesday) at 9 PM CST. However, knowing Dell, it’ll probably be replaced with another. Given that Dell will soon be releasing new lines, does anyone have a guess as to whether or not I should buy it now or wait until tomorrow? On a tight budget, so this is pretty important for me.

    Soon be releasing new lines?
They released the new Inspiron and XPS models (and a new Precision model) yesterday. I don't know of any other new lines being released soon. Well, they'll release the D430 at some point, but that shouldn't affect the D630. The D630 was just released recently. Dell always has some discount on the Latitudes. The discount goes up and down, but only slightly.

...so would you vote to grab it now or wait and guess? I don't want to lose $50 either way, but I guess its a crapshoot.

Are you talking about waiting just a few days or for a long time like months?

If a few days, I wouldn't wait for the sake of waiting... there's a good deal now, so I'd take that if you've made up your mind that this is the laptop you want and you have the configuration you want. But I wouldn't rush my decision too much either, because in all likelihood, you'll get the same price next week as this week. If you order today and it's cheaper tomorrow (which would surprise me), call up and see if they'll give you the newer prices.

I just ordered a 531...I say go for it. Its a good price (and the 630 has Santa Rosa) so it should be good for a while.

And the price of what you're buying is prett5y cheap.

Dell has a 21 day price guarantee in case you guys didn't know. They don't advertise it you have to call up customer care, basically it has to be the EXACT configuration and I think there might be a threshold of maybe $50. Basicaly if you threaten to return it because the price is cheaper and you are in the 21 day window, they will give you something.

Don't buy anything computer related until you absolutely have to.
You'll always be able to get a better deal later.
